Hi All,
This might seem like a stupid question but its something thats really annoying me and i would love to find an answer and hopefully a solution. I have an Asus 512mb EN7800GTX and have recently installed the Coolbits 2 reg hack but my card will no overclock in the slightest not even at increments of 1 it fails the test of the new settings everytime.

Does anyone have any idea's? Ive read somewhere else that i would need to flash the cards BIOS but i dont know if that is correct and even if it is i dont know where to find a copy of it as the ASUS website doesnt even have my card listed let alone downloads for it.

Any help is much appreciated.

Uninstall your drivers and install the latest drivers from here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_84.21.html
Reinstall Coolbits and try to auto-detect highest settings.
If that fails, try the latest version of Rivatuner from here:
http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/
If that fails, I can get my Leadtek cd and possibly send you a few other overclocking utilities =o

I am already running the 84.21 Driver and installed Coolbits after the driver upgrade...

I took your advice and downloaded and installed RivaTuner and upon trying to alter the clock speeds was presented with the error below. No matter how slight the increase the clock speeds were set, even under-clocking wouldnt work:

(My display isnt in 64 colours its just a screen grab over VNC)

any more idea's ? many thanks for your help upto now its appreciated 😀

well man the temps are wrong...it can't have only 38 idle and 45 full load...even with it's gigantic cooler...or maybe...check in rivatuner the real temps...right below the monitor click customize and HARDWARE MONITORING...that way you can be sure...

Somethings reading wrong then.. i wasnt 100% sure about the temps myself to be honest ... ive been playing BF2 now for around 35/40 mins and checked the temp straight after the result is below:

It does have in addition to its standard cooling system, 2x YS-TECH FD128025HD 80mm Fan @ 45.2cfm blowing directly onto it from the cross blower on my case but still temps seem v.low ....

Could this be part of a bigger problem do you think ?

8) sounds like a good point to me ... but i have read somewhere although i cannot lay my hands on the link (as soon as i find it again i'll post it) someone who has overclocked theirs... and stated that the factory BIOS didnt allow for overclocking so he had to flash it ...

again i dont know how true this is and also Asus dont even list my card on their website and dont have any downloads for it ... they have ceased manufacturing of it and its kinda stumped me as i now cannot buy a second for my planned SLi system... think i might just sell the card and wait until the DX10 cards come out later this year hopefully ...

thanks for all your help its very very much appreciated ... 😀

Provided 2 cards have the same core, you can SLI them. It doesn't have to be ASUS. The BIOS thing could be true. Pretty gay on ASUS' part, get EVGA next time.
