Just got my 770, everything installed and updated. I'm using GPU tweak and on the core clock speed I just put it all the way up (which is +149), and the memory one I have that on +500 and doing a benchmark on tomb raider as you can see (before & after), highest temp was 71c.

Tomb raider maxed out

This is all good and safe?

What you should do for overclocking your graphics cards-
1. Dont just squeeze the nobs till the end. Gradually increase clocks.
2. Increase by a small amount, then check stability by stress programs like OCCT. Run them in error checking mode and also look out for graphic artifacts. Also, CHECK FOR TEMPS while stress testing using softwares like HWMonitor. If your OC isnt stable or temps are going high, the signs will be visible within 15-20 minutes of the start of the test. OCCT itself has monitoring tools. If everything's ok, further increase the clocks and check again. Fine tune at the end. One hour of stressing is enough.
3. Safe temps mean anything that is below 80-85C in a stress test. Your GPU will probably not be as stressed during games as it is during stress tests.

lol well I watched video from that guy on youtube TechofTomorrow I think it's called, and he had no problem putting it all the way up without even touching the voltage, in which he had no problem and said it's safe.

It may be stable with this game but may not be stable with others.

verma1891 just pretty much described in extreme detail on how a PROPER overclock should be applied.

Just because some guy on youtube says it's completely safe, doesn't mean that it's true. As I have already said, completely jumping the gun and not actually -THINKING- about what you're doing is a good way to screw your components.

So because you need some guy on youtube to tell you what to do, you follow blindly, not actually using any common sense whatsoever in taking care of your expensive components. You should donate your PC to someone who would actually appreciate it.

Yeah I toned them down a bit anyway to +60 and +180, which is how I had my last card (660), and it's only a 2-3 fps less actually than max overclock so I'll probs keep at like this

umm, the worst thing that can happen is a game just crashes / closes on a failed overclock. It's not like I'm pumping all voltages as high as they go I'm not that stupid, don't know why your so mad for.

Actually worse thing is your GPU gets fried up. I dont think you were monitoring temps when you hit that clock.

I was, I said in first post highest temp was 71c. Which is actually really good considering I ain't messed with fan speeds yet

Means it touched 71C during that 1 minute or so of TR benchmark. Are you getting my point?
