Hi people.

I've built a new system using these components:
- asus a88xm-a mobo
- A10-5800K
- G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 PC3-17000 8GB 2x4GB CL9
- Seagate barracuda 2TB
- power supply 450w NOX

Well, I've a big problem because it's imposible to enable the dual channel ram. I've installed the ram modules following asus indications (DIMM_A1&DIMM_B1 or DIMM_A2&DIMM_B2), and the bios detects 2X4GB modules but only shows a total ram of 4GB [I'm including a photo who shows this point].

Currently I've installed the ram modules in DIMM_A1&DIMM_A2 and the bios shows a total ram of 8GB, but I'm not using the dual channel. Maybe is there something weird with my mobo?, because it has the bios version 0402, and well the latest asus bios published for this mobo is the version 0311. :heink:

Well, I'll appreciate any help :)

I'm having memory controller issues with my a88xm-a / a10 as well. Oddly enough it worked fine with my a10-6800k, but once I upgraded it to a10-7850k it has been crashing. In dual channel mode, windows wont load. In single channel windows is just unstable. I'm using the latest bios version 1003.

I had to set the CL to 2 higher for everything, and reduce the memory clock speed to make it the desktop of Windows. Each time i slowed the ram down, the closer it made it to loading. Now it will run windows for 5-10minutes before locking up. Trying to run any intense applications like 3dmark will crash. I'm sure if i reduce the timings even further I could get it more stable, but I shouldn't have to do this.

Have the same problem with a55bm-a. Everything worked fine with amd a10-6800k, then I upgraded to a10-7850k and can't get it to work in dual channel no matter what. I already RMA the CPU and the motherboard! And contacted, amd, asus, and G. Skill. Nobody cares

Hey everyone , i was encountered such dual-channel problem with ASUS A88MX-A and A8-6600K yesterday.

After searching around on the internet , i came with up the conclusion of that APU was defective.

One of my friend suggested me to change the DIMM.

My RAM (4Gx2) configuration was DIMM_A1 and DIMM_A2. The BIOS reported that was 8GB memory and CPUZ showed that single channel.

Then i tried to use DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B2 again (i tried yesterday and it did not work) and out of my surprise the BIOS showed me 8GB of memory!!!

After logging into window and run CPU-Z. The dual channel is shown on memory section!! That saved me so much time on replacing the APU and digging out the root cause!!

Hi just thought i would post after reading this .i beleive this is a memory problem .i have same motherboard and an a 10 6800k .i initially got a pair of g skill 1600 mghz ripjaws .no problem with them at all, then on reading that apus like fast memory i got 8g of trident x 2400 from g skill .the system worked ok but started getting crashes ,in very inesive apps ie games, so i changed the timmings and lowered the speed to 2133 mghz and have run on cl 9 for long time complety stable three weeks ago i had to repair my windows install win 8.1 64 and ia m now getting the odd crash this might be memory again but have also notice keeping win 8.1 upto date is important as ive also noticed if i miss updates i get crashes so think it is a memory problem but with windows there seems to be issues .use latest bios ive got to update mine something i hate doing ,but this is not a bad thing and my be my problem asits near a year since i last updated the bios.for myself im not at all impressed with g skill memory although they were very helpful with me ,i will in future us annother make as i have freind and he changed to 20133 8g team memory and his crashing totally disapeared ! .may not be ,but all i can say is i only had problem with trident x ,the slower ripjaws were fine .maybe you should try different make ok memory

I use G.Skill 8GB 2x4GB kit TridentX 2400mhz since some time ago, as well as all my friends(as recommended for me) with no issues at all, best results i have ever had in all tests.

This problem was fixed with the newest BIOS Update for me.. Took 6 Month after the initial Release of their product and then after i RMA everything in my PC, nothing worked until they updated their BIOS for the 10nth time... weak.. Lesson is don't buy new products right away i keep forgetting that.

Hi maikel first which model asus motherboard do you have you say its a 88x fine but which model have you checked asus memory vendors list make sure your memory is on there list they have pdf all makes and models theyve tested along with timings and voltages. the limits will be with your 5800k but you can still get it to work at 2133 but you ll have to overclock it ie increase the voltage and alter play around with the cl timmings .if you have a88m -plus or any model in that range.on it the board checks your memory on post ,does the red post light stay on or go off if it goes out memory is ok it the red light stays on memory is not compatible, but you can if you press red led which is also a button the board will detect and set the timmings for the memory.im suprised at asus being so unhelpful to you.as well can i ask how old you psu is you could do with something bit more powerful.the slots are colour coded so memory will work in both pairs slots make sure you ve seated them into the slots fully as asus have new slot clips and i had problem with mine .hope all this helps. if none ive memtioned works and your memory is in there list as compatable and still does not work get asus to give you a new motherboard.you could email G Skill they will help you they help me a lot all best hopr you get it sorted simon

I have got similar problem.
My processor is AMD A10-7850K
My Mobo is the same and ram is same also and when i set ram to 2133 speed .. windows can't even launch - i get message'' Hardware config error''
When I set RAM to 1800 speed I get windows loaded, but then when i play games crush-close, or my windows shuts down.
When I set RAM to 1600 everything seems to work fine.

I have the same problems. I got a10-7850k combined with Asus A88XM-A. Dual channel => crashes. I had 2*4 kingston hyperx 2133mhz kit, I also tried many rams and bioses. Nothing worked. Now the situation of mine is, mobo is at technical service, cpu replaced and rams are RETURNed. I think the problem is 7850k. it is the only one FM2+ cpu and I suspect of that.

Anyway, I have another problem too:) I cannot plug a second monitor to this configuration. I tried many rams, bioses, drivers and so on. Nothing worked. I am very sad about buying an AMD computer (which is a mistake I will never repeat). Only a few combinations (1333mhz rams), a second display signal came but, not like an extended monitor, instead a duplicate view of the first one. (in graphical settings of windows, there was only one monitor and no option to extend to secondarty monitor like it is in laptops).

Hi Maxim
