ASUS e35-m1 pro

Greetings everyone and thanks for reading my post any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Two weeks ago I built a HTPC with the only intentions to play blue-ray movies stream Netflix and Hulu. The problem is that the E-350 is very choppy and unacceptable watching HD Netflix. The processor is running at 80 to 100%. It plays blue-rays perfect and has little problems with hulu. I had about $150.00 to spend on a motherboard/processor and looking at the offerings from Asus (E35M1-M PRO) seemed very attractive considering the power requirements and the new APU specs. I have 2 weeks to return the board back to newegg or should I decide to keep it. I have read where Silverlight does not utilize hardware GPU so its only relying on the processor itself. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get better performance out of the chip or should I return the APU/motherboard and go with something else. Please understand I have 150 to maybe 175 to spend on a different combo if that’s what I should do. Here is the setup Im using…

Do you have the latest video drivers/flash/silverlight? Updating them to the latest version should solve the problem.

Try the flash 10.3 beta also: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/flashplayer10-3/

Silverlight v5 is supposed to add GPU acceleration. For now the CPU must do the lifting. You can try overclocking the CPU to 1.8GHz and see if that helps any.

Also, I ran across the following forum thread that gives a suggestion to manually set the DNS with some success, though I am skeptical if your CPU is really hitting 100%:

Can you post back what your CPU usage is in task manager while you are playing HD netflix?

Hey Thanks so much for the reply back i didnt take a screen shot but I did re-check the task manager and it was anywhere from 67% to 92% cpu usage using netflix in HD. I did double check on what you said about Silverlight 5 using the gpu support and you are correct, so in response to your information I believe the e-350 motherboard/processor is going to be a keeper. After microsoft fixes Silverlight I think the amd fusion processor is going to be a hard cpu to beat for a HTPC.

I have been looking into the same HD netflix playback issue for a while now. From what I have read with your setup a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158098 + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816321016 should suit your needs. I am having a similar delema as my goal is to go completely fanless with an mini itx board e-350 board with at least one mini PCIe card for the habey hardware decoder (Preferably two so I can either add wireless for taking the htpc on the road with wifi or adding a tuner card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816321017) I know I can do both of these things though USB so if I could find a fanless E-350 board with only one mini PCIe socket I would be golden.
