Hi,

I've had an Asus EAH4870X2 for a couple of years now, but it just died. It was under warranty but they said they can't replace it right now. They offered to exchange it for an EAH5870/2DIS/1GD5/V2. It has 1 GPU, half the RAM, but a newer chipset.

Should I hold out for them to find a replacement for me, or should I take the EAH5870/2DIS/1GD5/V2?

Thanks!

Solution
Take it.
The 5870 should perform the same as the 4870X2, if not better in some cases, it also runs cooler, uses alot less (about half) power and gives you DX11 support.

If you plan to sell it, its worth ~$100 more also.

The hd 5870 performs little less than a 4870X2 which has 2 gpu but still in the case of single gpu it was the fastest on the planet before gtx 480 arrived .....so go for the hd 5870 it's worth...
