Asus M5A78L-M & 3TB Hdd compatible or not?

Hello all you beautiful people! i am new on here so a BIG "hi" ;-)

can you help me please?

i have just bought a 3tb Seagate hdd (ST300DM001)and installed w7 on a small 80 gig primary drive meaning the Big drive was used for storage only and i have tried everything to get it recognised by my mobo ( Asus M5A78L-M )but ive got no where? ive used Seagate "seatools" and its not finding it? ive got the mobo in IDE conf i had it in RAID but it didnt find it as well? ive heard any drive beyond 2.25tb is a nightmare with old boards but mine is quite new (USB3) it doesnt have EUFI iface but its still compatible with drives bigger than the 2.25tb cut off as i have seen on forums people having the same issue but some solved it & i asked them how and they havent got back to me yet? having just tried your "Disc Unlocker" and nothing happened? granted it was showing on the program that i have more than 2tb of storage so its detected something! but when i goto the dropdown menu it highlights but nothing happens there is nothing dropping down? all the commands are shaded out??

Any help would be appreciated.

First, you will have to initialize it in GPT mode instead of the default MBR mode so that more than 2 GB can be seen.

Hi "Wyomingknott" Many thanks for your time and explanation, i went into computer management as required & cant seem to do anything with the 3tb drive as the options are shaded out? i've taken a screenshot & if you would be so kind to suggest anything please?

Ah your amazing Yogi! its the bottom one its only showing 128gig of 3tb..? when i try to right click it most of the commands are shaded out? thanks

What size do you see in the BIOS for the new drive?
Do you have the option in the BIOS to set SATA mode to AHCI?
Are you using 32 bit Windows or 64 bit?

YOGI so sorry i havent logged on for ages, i am Truly greatfull for your time and advice i really am! the drive was faulty i found and i got my money back but i wanted to thank you for all your time!!
