Hello everyone!

I am wondering if anyone here is using Proton FREE VPN?

I have watched a number of videos and reviews saying that it is rated in the top three "best" FREE VPN's for 2025.

What is your experience using it? Good, bad?

I would only be using it for home use on my two desktops. Nothing else.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Scott

They offer free version for people to use and try it out. They hope you like it so much you will consider paying for theyre paid service that has more servers and advanced features. It don't cost you anything at all to try so try it out and see what U think?

I tend to not trust even the very best vpn software. They tend to install fairly easy but don't always cleanly uninstall the client. After having to reinstall windows testing out various vpn companies I decided to only support vpn software that can run on a router. You can also get pubic domain vpn clients that you install yourself and then configure then to connect to the vpn service. This also prevent the very dishonest vpn companies from loading more than just vpn software. It is was very common for the free vpn services to inject ads into web pages, not as easy now that things are encyrpted. One free vpn company got caught running coin mining software in the vpn clients.

I am a Proton Unlimited customer, which includes their paid VPN service. In my experience, it is a great VPN product, as are their other products. I initially tried them for their free Proton Mail.

There usually significant limitations on free VPN products, regardless of the company, if they even offer a free VPN.

Proton has established an impressive reputation for the integrity and performance of its customer privacy products.

I am just a satisfied customer.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

With VPNs I’d just go for a paid service. They’re not that expensive and are frequently on sale through people on YouTube with nord for example.
