Just got my new Asus m5a97 R2.0 and it will not boot. I have the mobo breadboarded and have tried a ton of things...

2 different psu's

Different ram configurations

Both pcie slots for my graphics card

Removing the cmos battery

Moving the cmos jumper

Powering on without anything
plugged in besides the cpu and mobo power

Every time I power on everything turns on. The fans spin up just fine. The mobo light is green but I get no beeps no matter what. The system won't post at all and nothing comes up on the screen. Hard drive spins up as well when it's connected and I can hear it.

When I press the memok button on the mobo the led next to it blinks red until I turn the power off. Does this mean it's a problem with the ram? Even so shouldn't there still be a beep? I know the ram works as I've used it before. The led doesn't blink unless I press the memok button.

Here's my hardware.

AMD fx 8120
Xfx radeon hd 7850
ADATA 4GB 1333 ram (x2)
700w solid gear psu
1TB Toshiba HD
500 GB WDB HD

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I have tried that and still get the same results.

Yes I've tried connecting everything several times. Also as stated above I've tried 2 power supplies.

I've already tried that. No beeps no matter what configuration of hardware I use.

Already checked. I got the new motherboard because my PC stopped working one day. I woke up and the screen was froze. When I tried to reboot the pc would not post. I tried to fix it for about a week before I finally decided that the motherboard was probably dead.

But even with the new motherboard it's still doing the same thing.

I'm thinking the cpu may have died since a replacement psu and a new mobo haven't fixed anything and I never get any beeps or anything on screen.

Unfortunately there's no warranty on it. But I just ordered a new FX 4130 black edition. It was only about $70 and I figured even though it's not the best it will be enough cpu power until I save up for a better one.

Let's hope the new CPU fixes the problem. I've already gone over 3 weeks without my PC and it sucks haha.

The last four numbers are 1602. However I flashed the bios with the newest version using the flashback function on the the mobo. I did this earlier to see if it would fix my problem but it didn't. It flashed the new bios successfully though, or at least that's what the led indicator was telling me.

I have exactly the same symptoms you describe albeit with an fx 8150 as opposed to the 8120. I wonder if you have had any joy with your new processor the fx 4130. I am beginning to suspect my cpu but don't have another socket am3 board to test it on. Please let me know how you went on.

Turns out it was my cpu that died. As soon as I put the new 4130 in the mobo and turned it on it booted right up without any problems.
