[SOLVED] ASUS Media Bridge mode?

ASUS Media Bridge mode allows Ethernet clients to connect to the WiFi network through the router's LAN ports. Do other router manufacturers (TP-Link, Netgear, etc.) offer this feature and if so, what do they call it?

It's important to note that Asus media bridge mode will use all of the radio's antennae to bridge to the main router. So if it has a 3x3 or 4x4 radio, it'll use all of them to connect to the main router, giving a more stable and higher bandwidth connection. For this reason Asus media bridge mode does not transmit an ssid's or act as a repeater. They have a repeater mode for this instead, which uses some of the radio's to act as a wifi access point and some to connect to the main router. This cuts down on the stability and bandwidth of the connection to the main router. It's a compromised mode.

Other routers have a repeater mode, but you have to be careful to find one with bridge mode.

I don't remember seeing a wireless bridge mode in tplink routers.

Asus is just the most clear because on each router's spec page. It shows what modes each router supports. The Asus AC66u rev B1 is probably the best band for the buck Asus router with bridge mode and uses a 3x3 antenna. It's worth spending more money to buy a higher model router with 4x4 to get the most bandwidth possible. You main home router would also need a 4x4 antenna.

It would be nice if it was called something standard. Many times you see it also called client-bridge mode. You have to be careful because almost all routers can be run in a more simple bridge mode. Many times they just call it bridge, it in effect makes the router into a AP. The is the reverse of the function you are describing.

On TP-Links they call it "client mode".
