Asus P5KPL-AM Se vs Gigabyte G31 Series vs XFX Intel G31i

Hey all ... I know choosing a motherboard is the most important ... even when working on a very tight budget ... ... so here is my question


Asus P5KPL-AM Se vs Gigabyte G31 Series vs XFX Intel G31i : which would be best ... I can get the asus a bit cheaper ... I am building a budget < low end > gaming pc 4 my sister ... I will be over clocking and I will be using an old 3.0ghz lga 775 processore until I can afford 2 buy her a e8400 ...

Please give me as much information as possible ... I really want 2 go into this with as much knowledge as possible !

I'd get one of these for an inexpensive computer:

P41 is more modern than the P31 and the BIOS has a pretty wide range (for an economy board) of overclocking options.

I bought one of these along with an E5200 for sis-in-law's computer.

Looks like a really good board ... but it seems I cant get access 2 it ... no one in my area stocks it... ... will keep looking ... ... If you had 2 choose 1 of the three I mentioned ... which would it be ??

Ok ... so now I start with the dumb questions ... again ... ... The asus has 3 x PCIe x1 ... ... what are those used 4 ?? ... and the asus board doesnt say it supprts windows 7 ... would windows 7 still work on it ??

Windows 7 is supported. PCIe x1 slots are for PCIe x1 expansion cards. PCI Express.

OK great ... I have heard asus is great 4 over clocking ... and this board looks like a good low-mid range board ...

Double check the CPU Support List from ASUS:

Many newer boards are not supporting older LGA 775 Pentium 4 and Pentium D models.
