Asus p5kpl-cm voltage question.

Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me out with my voltage on my p5kpl-cm board.


I have a q9450 quad core and am tyring to OC it to 3.2ghz but by simply increasing the FSB to 400
prime95 has errors in one of the cores so I assume I need more voltage.

In my bios the voltage settings are as follows:
1.8 Dual Over Voltage - Auto, 1.80V, 2.00V, 2.25V
VTT_CPU Over Voltage - Auto, 1.2V, 1.3V
1.25 Over Voltage - Auto, 1.25V, 1.4V
1.5 Over Voltage - Auto, 1.5V, 1.6V

"VTT_CPU Over Voltage" I'm pretty sure that's the vcore voltage.
No matter what setting I put it to, Auto, 1.2 or 1.3 the voltage stays the same in CPU-Z and I continue
to get errors in prime95 in one of the cores.

Does my board just suck so badly that I am only able to OC to about 3ghz?
I'd like to get to 3.2 to get a 1 to 1 ratio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
 
VTT_CPU is not the cpu voltage. It has something to do with the CPU however and can increase stability a lot.
The CPU voltage is usually the one with the smallest increments available.

BTW: are those the only voltage settings available like 'auto, 1.2, 1.3'?

Those voltage settings are the only options I have sadly.
Should I try to increase the "1.25 Over Voltage" setting?
Maybe leave the rest to auto and see what happens.
 


Well I tried every possible combination on all 4 voltage settings with no change in my VCore voltage 🙁

I found a description of the voltage settings btw.

"1.8v Dual Over Voltage" is "Manual Set Memory Voltage"
"VTT_CPU Over Voltage" is "Manual Set FSB Termination Voltage"
"1.25v Over Voltage" is "Manual Set MCH Chipset Voltage"
"1.5v Over Voltage" is "Maunual Set ICH Chipset Voltage"

I cant find any other voltage settings in my bios so perhaps Im just out of luck with this motherboard.

Anytime i go past 3ghz I end up getting errors in 1 core on prime95.
 
That's the name I was looking for: FSB Termination Voltage.
I guess you're indeed out of luck with this motherboard. Maybe a newer bios version adds that setting but I doubt it. Anyway it's very strange to see such an important voltage setting is missing.
