ASUS P5KPL with 20 pin power supply?

Hello,

A friend ask me to look at his PC. He says it hasn't work in years. It won't boot. The fans start but no beep from the graphics card. All looks normal just that its a 24 pin and it has a 20 pin power supply connected. I don't have a 24 pin power supply to test. But could it be that this mobo works with a 20 pin?

PCI Express Architecture replaced the AGP 8X interface for graphics cards. The change from 20 to 24 pin ATX motherboard connectors also occurred at the same time. The additional 4 pins power the PCIe x16 slot.

So the computer would run, just the graphic card won't work?
