i have a "Hp Media Center PC m7760". I am trying to do a cpu upgrade, i have nothing but factory on my board.

i belived this pc comes with "ASUS P5LP-LE" (socket 775)mother which its maximum approved processor is said to be e6x00 up to E6700...

so does this mean.. if i was to purchase some like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115207

would it work ??

im pretty new so please bare with me... thank you

That does appear to be the board in your system however if you look at the CPU support list you have the following options
Supports the following processors:

* Core 2 Duo E6x00
* Core 2 Duo E4x00
* Pentium D 9x0 Dual Core
* Pentium D 8xx Dual Core
* Pentium 4 6x1 series
* Celeron D 3xx series

This means no core 2 quads so the Q8300 isnt an option, the best you can do is an E6700 but that should give you a fairly large boost over whatever it came with.

Thank you for the reply, so your saying that this wouldnt work then. (only for examply purpose)

would this,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115054
(since it is a e8xx series)

or this,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115059
(e7xx series)

I assume this should work ?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116347
(e6600)

thank you for your help
