That's for the P5N, how about the P5W? 1305 and 1201 have this problem, 1101 didn't seem to. I guess Asus has to bring out a new bios for the P5W DH then.

Hello there I was lookin on internet any way to fix my prob. here it is

I just bought an ASUS P5w DH Deluxe 2 days ago and tried to build my pc with my brand new C2D e6600 and when i try to boot it the monitor is not even turning on and no POST too. the fans are working ( cpu fan, vga fan en psu) but thats all nothing is happening. I didnt put any memory or anything else. Just the CPU and VGA. could it be the problem was because I didnt put any memory??I also tried to clear CMOS detaching the PSU connectors and removing battery and some other ways too but no luck and I also have connected that 4 pin connector of my PSu and nothing changed. Please someone help me out here. heres my specs

Intel e6600
Asus Radeon x1600 PCI-e
Raptor PSU 550 Watt
MOBO BIOS : 1101

i dont know wat to put more because thats all I use when I tried to boot my system up.

would be best to try running with memory installed first....

get ram installed if you still having issues get back in touch

yeh i was planning to do that.I am going to buy one tomorrow cos i cant afford a combo for now.And Would windows xp x64 run alright with only 1 stick??.I am thinking of a 1gb Kingston ddr2/533.Hope it will fix my problem cos i am getiing stressed out with this mobo

no i just thought I read somewhere in the manual that its recommended to use less than 3 GB memory when running on a 32 bit xp. And more than 4 Gb when running on a 64 bit edition.

and i think at least you can boot up to the BIOS settings even without a ram. Well thatt was when i still had a socket 478 mobo dont know bout this new MOBos tho.. but Ill do what you suggested but if anyone else has a better idea or a soulution without having to spend money please do suggest.. lol..

You can’t enter the BIOS without RAM.
Without memory, the computer should give you some kind of beep code (if you have a speaker installed properly).
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

If you don’t hear any beeps, you might have received a motherboard that needs the new BIOS installed before it will work with Conroe.
If you don’t have another CPU to install the new BIOS with, you can send it back to the place you bought it for a free BIOS update.

You can try to use an older video card to install the BIOS

Don’t forget ASUS Technical support.

Minimum memory requirement for Windows VISTA is 512mb, and a relatively new video card.

The motherboard can use 4 GB of memory for a 32 bit OS, and 8GB with a 64 bit.

Using a 32bit OS, the CPU can only use 3 GB’s of the memory, the remaining 1 GB would be used for the IO system.

Hi folks, ive been reading the posts on the p5w deluxe and i have something similar wrong with my PC now.

SYSTEM:

INTEL Core 2 extreme x6800 (2x2.93 GHz) 1066 Mhz FSB/ 4MB L2 Cache CPU

2048 MB Corsair DDR2 800MHz RAM ( 2x 1GB)

ASUS P5W DH Deluxe Motherboard

150GB Serial ATA Raptor 10000 RPM , 15 MB Cache HDD

1024 MB GEFORCE nVIDIA 7950GX2 GRAPHICS CARD

700W JEANTECH PSU.

PSU is functional
RAM is functional
HDD is functional

On applying power fans all run, DVD drives energise. green led on mobo.

no characteristic raptor hdd clicks
monitor says "no signal present", blank display

after about two minutes, the cpu fan stops, after another minute the unit shuts down, turns off.

Unit can be started by using the on ( front panel) button, once started can be restarted using the restart (front panel) button

i took the unit to PC World shop, they say HDD is ok Graphics Card ok, RAM is OK, and think its the cpu or the motherboard.

ive ordered a new MOBO and cpu... 🙁 over £700 UK pounds worth)

i would like some pointers on how i might interrogate the PC since i dont have any monitor signals.

my only plan right now is to fit a new Mobo and cpu, but if just changing the mobo solves things, i would like to know what i can do to try and stop the fault from recurring.. since i will have a spare cpu if its the mobo, i could build another pc using it.
If its the cpu then i dont want to lose the new one.. else i think i will be broke soon..:)

Hi folks, even though pc world couldnt fix the pc or find the cause of the fault, i have.

i read the ASUS manual, and what has been said in these posts, and decided i had nothing to lose resetting the cmos.

The manual isnt very good at showing where the battery is, and i took some time to locate it, it was buried underneath the graphics card.

follwing the manual instructions, i removed the battery, changed the switch position.. waited for a minute or two then replaced everything as was, as the manual says.

power on, press the front panel on button.. and voila, pc booted, monitor working.
ive only had to reset the time and date.. if i hadnt done that the pc still would have booted and run.. everything is functioning.

one very happy chappy:)

The ASUS manual could be better at giving fault finding info...its caused me several days of hair pulling, not knowing any way forward than replacement.

Regards

Incony.

Hey all,

I'm having a similar problem to those above, so I was hoping you could help me out. I've had my PC up and running for about a year or so now. It worked flawlessly til around February, when the monitor failed to initialise when I turned on the PC. It just remained in power save. To solve it I usually had to turn off the PSU then turn it back on. The problem was a bit sporadic at first, but is now more frequent.

The weird thing is that windows actually boots - I can hear the sound as it enters windows, but obviously there's no picture on the screen. To me this makes it sound like a hardware issue. Yesterday I cleared the CMOS and removed the battery and yet still the problem occurs. I'm on the 2004 bios, have got the newest catalyst drivers, have tried a different monitor cable... and so basically I'm out of ideas.

I'm thinking that it's either the PSU or the monitor? Maybe the PSU doesn't have enough power? But that doesn't make sense since it's a 600W Tagan PSU. The monitor is a 20" Dell 2007 WFP. The rest of my specs are as follows:

Mobo: Asus p5w dh deluxe
CPU: Intel core 2 duo 2.4Ghz E6600
GPU: Radeon x1900xtx
RAM: Geil 2mb DDR
Harddrives: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 250mb and 1 x Maxtor 80mb
Sound: X-Fi ExtremeMusic 7.1

Thanks for the help!

I am having the same issue. I'm soo frustrated with it I'm not even thinking straight.

I understand several people are saying to update the BIOS, however since I cannot get ANY video.... Then I cannot access windows to update it or a DOS-MODE to update it....

Please tell me how to update the BIOS if I cannot see anything!!! BTW: I have already downloaded the most recent BIOS using my laptop...

Thank you all in advance!!
