Ello,
I bought a used Asus P6T WS Professional + Xeon W3520 + 4x1GB RAM and I thought I could add a stick of Crucial 1x4GB 1600MHz and it'd work. Turns out that's not the case 🙁
To explain, I'll be using http://icrontic.com/uploads/features/tech/2008/11/channels1.png to reference which dimms are where.
The sticks of 4x1GB are 1333MHz 1GB sticks each. I can provide a picture if needed.
I had slots A2, B1, B2, and C2 populated with the 1GB sticks. Slot A1 is using the 4GB brand new Crucial stick. 4x1+1x4 should be 8, right? Nope. I only see 4GB in windows, OpenHardWareMonitor, and dxdiag. The bios says 4088 MB.
Right now, I have slots A2, B2, and C3 using the 1GB sticks, and slot A1 the 4GB stick. This works fine, and shows 7GB in windows, bios, and OpenHardwareMonitor(3x1+1x4). The 1GB stick is currently not in use. Any way I could get all of my sticks running? I've tried some other options or 'combo's' aswell but most of them simply resulted in my PC not posting. 🙁
FYI, not sure if it matters, but here's my full parts list:
Asus P6T WS Professional
3x1GB RAM + 1x4GB RAM(currently, anyways)
Xeon W3520 + Stock cooler
XFX R9 380 4GB
Cooler Master GM G550M
1x320GB 5400RPM HDD
1x120GB SSDPlus SSD
Thanks in advance!
