Hello. Please assist. My old pc recently broke down and as cash is an issue right now, I went back to using another old pc I had in the cupboard. The motherboard is an Asus P8Z68-V LX with Bios information as follows = Bios version - - 4105 x64, Build date - 07/01/2013, EC version - MBECD-0006a, ME version - 8.0.4.1441, Southbridge stepping - B3. Now here is the issue, I have a sata 500gb drive I can use as my primary boot drive or a 256gb SSD drive which was the bootable drive in the pc that broke down. However neither are being detected in bios, along with 5 or 6 other drives I have tried. it tell me to look for CSM but there is none nor is there UEFI. The only thing i have seen is EFI compatibilty mode and when i turn it on the pc wont boot. I have to remove the battery and reset cmos. Any help please would be appreciated

do a fresh os install
I would gladly do a fresh OS install but it is not detecting any hard drives. The sata spins up, is freshly formatted so there is nothing on it, and when i go into bios there is no sata drive detected. Same with the SSD

Do you have Hot Plug disabled on every SATA port in your SATA Configuration menu from bios? if not, make sure they're disabled.
Yes all disabled. The internet said something about CSM but it isnt there, someone else said some features may be hidden but didnt know how to fix it

Do you have the Marvell storage controller option in your BIOS? it should be under the Advanced -> Onboard devices configuration menu.

That should be set to AHCI and the OPROM setting should be enabled.

The controller is responsible for your Blue SATA 3 ports on your mobo... the white ones are only SATA 2.

There is an option for ACHI, but it does not fall under Marvell. merely under the boot tab. I also noticed the CSM button is missing. Someone did mention that there are hidden features but could not say how to unhide them which would probably unlock my HDD detection

I wasn't able to find anything CSM related in the BIOS on that board, the Z77 ones have indeed the option to enable legacy mode through CSM.

As @rgd1101 said have you actually tried to boot into a windows installation media and format the drive from there? With UEFI a windows install on the drive in UEFI mode is needed to be able to see it in BIOS.

So I downloaded the drivers for the exact model drive, booted into install windows, when the page for hard drives came up, inserted the usb for it, and it said drive not present, I have a sneaky suspicion it has to do with this CSM drop down that is meant to be in the Bios and isnt

I'd see that being a problem if you were using an old HDD sure, but you have an SSD as well and that isn't detcted either... CSM would not be needed for that.

You have the latest BIOS and you did reset the CMOS from what I've read. Nothing else in your BIOS jumps out to me as being related to the issue.

If you know both drives are working properly, then the SATA controller on your mobo might be your problem here.
