Hi. I wanted to update the bios of Asus p8z77-v pro. The download center allows to download bios files for p8z77-v pro / thunderbolt, but it is not possible to update because of model name mismatch. Apparently p8z77-v pro is not the same as pro/thunderbolt for the bios updater. Does someone maybe know a workaround? Would be greatly appreciated.

I would not use the software bios flash thing lot can go wrong as you now see

go to asus find your board and download the file and do the manual pendrive way

if your not having any issues with your board no need to risk a flash ''just because'' and you may end up with more harm then good [its all ready started out bad for you to start with ]

then what if you did not catch this or it just tried to flash that wrong bios ?? now your bricked ,right ??

Calvin7 - thanks. This seems to be a different file than on the Polish Asus support site. I will try this and report.

Junkeymonkey - this was the USB/flash update mode through ez easy update in uefi bios.
The update was pointed out as a possible solution for my gtx980 ti issues (bsod every 20 mins).

being that's a older board and I assume a older psu ? I have seen guys claim there older psu did not work out with these cards and replaced with a new psu and all was fine ?? [was not due to the watts] ?

these newer cards and older chipset boards can be funny ''Update. It was definitely the Power supply''

also did you format the usb stick correctly ??

just be sure the bios is for ''your board'' if you workaround and force flash the wrong one it maybe all over ??

contact asus support to see what they say ??

about what you said about calvin7 thing

go to asus global and you get this

http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Intel-platform-Products/

http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8Z77V_PROTHUNDERBOLT/

then do it at asus U.S.A

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8Z77V_PRO/

one got 11 updates one got 10 but all numbered the same like if there the same bios ?? wow

things like that is why my ''LAST'' asus was my ''LAST'' asus

maybe if you go to asus timbucktoo you may find another completely different p8z77-v pro ??

like me maybe go with a board company that offers straight forward support ??

my example how asus is

my board

now do you see it at asus to get support ??

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/AMD-platform-Products/

nope just the rev2 and up they just left us holding the bag and dropped it or I got to do a lot of hunting around world wide to fine it ?? no thanks / and in the trash..

good luck

Just as a bottom line - link posted by Calvin7 worked like a charm. My BIOS is up to date.

Didn't do much for my 980Ti problem though. I wanted to check first possible software issues before I start to put some money into hardware checks. 12V line on my PSU is quite stable at 12.09v +/- 0.05 (checked using multimeter). I noticed that uninstalling precisionx, geforce experience and Asus suite helped a lot but i'm still not happy about the stability.

Anyway, this case is closed. I may open a new thread soon. Thanks for all your input. Cheers.
