I'm building a new system:
ASUS P4B533 w/onboard C-Media audio, usb2.0 & game port
P4 1.8AGHz CPU

I've got the system put together and it boots up without
problems but although the POST reporter is enabled in the
BIOS I have yet to hear anything except a beep when the system boots.

I'm worried it's not working.
I don't have speakers hooked up to the lime green audio
connector yet but I do have the case speaker plugged into
the correct pins on the PANEL.

If I hear beeps should I also hear the POST reporter if
it's enabled?

I flashed the BIOS to version 1008 and still no POST reporter voice.

No offense intended, but I have mine disabled and intend to leave it that way. It blasted out "cpu not installed" at least 10 times or more when posting after using a cheapo power supply. If you have a serious problem, it will bark out commands anyway, even when it's disabled. On my p4s533, there is a jumper onboard that disables it and another one that mutes it so you can barely hear it. Look for them on your board near the cmos jumper. Asus boards are well marked. I know the white id is hard to read, but not impossible. I figured out most of the jumpers without a manual.

Thank you so much for your response! I checked the
jumpers and found I had the default set for the POST
reporter to use the line out on the audio card instead
of the chassis speaker.

I see what you mean about it being annoying.
I'm a newbie computer builder and was worried
that something was not working.
