It has 4 RAM slots.i have this build :
asus pro gaming z97
Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM 2x 16gb
700w psu
can i add more ram like 4x8gb hyperx 32gb ?
did anyone try it ?
and is it worth it ?
btw i use video editing and gaming in fhd
i meant to say adding 2x not 4xIt has 4 RAM slots.
Currently, you have 2x 16GB = 32GB
Changing to 4x 8GB serves no purpose.
By mixing you mean from the same brand or mixing new with old of the same brand and speed ?OK...a bit confusing read.
To clarify:
You currently have 2x 8GB - 16GB.
You want 32GB
Best practice, and the ONLY thing guaranteed, is to buy a 32GB kit.
Pref 2x 16GB.
Mixing new RAM with what you have is a crapshoot. It might work, it might fail.
In your current usage, are you actually running out of RAM at the 16GB level?
If not, adding more serves no purpose.
Anything not sold as a specific set is "mixing".By mixing you mean from the same brand or mixing new with old of the same brand and speed ?
Yeah but rarely i get out of memory .
What about compatibility ?
Oh i see i did however mixed my hyperx 8gb i bought the other one after a yearAnything not sold as a specific set is "mixing".
Even the same make/model/size, bought at different times.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails.Oh i see i did however mixed my hyperx 8gb i bought the other one after a year
Thanks for the infoSometimes it works, sometimes it fails.
There is no 100% either way.
thanks for the info yes im thinking of buying same one i bought before so everything is the same but is 32gb compatible for this mb and did anyone try it ?I have used Mixed brands of ram before and never had a Issue. The one thing you want to consider when buying more ram is that the RAM specs are the same. Same Size in your case 8gb same Speed.
For example
those are some of the specs you want to make sure to match. If your not going to overclock your ram then thats not as important. But as USAFRet there is no garantee mixing rams will work but Just from my prospective I've never had a issue doing so.

thanks for the info . thats what im thinking of doing32GB will work in 4x8GB, not 2x16GB. Z97 doesn't support 16GB memory sticks.
