Hey y'all

I just bought some upgrade components for a Frankenstein-PC I was building for a friend, I bought a Ryzen 5 2600/Asus ROG Strix B450-F/Trident Z RBG 2x8GB DDR4-3000 combo bundle off of NewEgg, I'd noticed upon unboxing that the Motherboard was already unpackaged, the board was unwrapped. I threw in the components anyways because I'd wanted to see if it would run anyways.

Unsurprisingly it doesn't boot into BIOS. Everything powers on, the liquid-cooling, RAM, GPU, and case fans all light up. I'd previously had an Asus Sabertooth 990fx 2.0/FX-8320 that ran fine, installed Win10 prior to new board for compatibility. There's an orange/yellow light lit up indicating RAM error, tried swapping various placements of RAM and using one stick, and removing RAM all-together to see if it would at least beep indicating no memory was present. No beeps, no sound, just continuous power with no display through DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI. Tried running display through the board itself, still nothing.

I left it on for up to a half hour since I'd read AMD first-boots can take a while so I took a smoke break and came back to nothing, tried resetting CMOS, nothing. Before anyone posts I have to make it clear that yes, I have backpins for the motherboard, yes I have the CPU power and main power connector plugged into the board, yes I have tried swapping memory slots & amount of memory. This motherboard was sent to me already opened which leads me to believe someone returned a dead/damaged board and it got re-sent to me by NewEgg.

I've got a RMA ticket in for the product so I'm just going to replace the board and see if that fixes it, if not then I would assume it's a CPU issue (RAM is QVL compatible), just thought I would post and see if there was any avenue I missed before finalizing the decision to remove the board from the case and pack it up.

Current specs (no BIOS display/boot):
  • PSU - CORSAIR CX-M Series CX650M
  • CPU - AMD RYZEN 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz
  • GPU - PNY GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 VCGGTX10606XGPB-OC 6GB
  • MOBO - ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING AM4
  • RAM - G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000
  • HDD - Seagate BarraCuda ST1000DM010 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
  • SSD - WD Blue 3D NAND 500GB Internal SSD - SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5"/7mm Solid State Drive
  • Cooling - Lepa Exllusion 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler
  • OS - Windows 10 Home
  • Chassis - EVGA DG-77

TL;DR: Everything powers up and stays on, orange/yellow DRAM light on mobo, no beeping from motherboard w/o RAM, everything plugged in (pentuple-checked), no display recognized through graphics card or motherboard.

Solution
Hi,
If there's an internal speaker connected to the board and no beeps when board started with no RAMs, then yes: board, or CPU, assuming that the power supply does work.

No you need an older AMD CPU to install so you can flash the BIOS.
Read my earlier post for options to do that.
Thanks, i thought i can boot without cpu and install bios but was wrong..... I had contacted local vendor abt this and ill have the issue solved.

Thanks a lot man for quick replies and solving my problem.

Just for knowledge i wanna know why its showing orange led not red for cpu?

My rog logo (on io shield) is not glowing after the update do u know abt this???
Yes, I have seen a post or two about that issue.
I wouldn't worry about it for now.
I'm sure they will fix it in a new BIOS at some point.
As long as the system is working properly I would be happy.
I t may take a few BIOS revisions before they get all the bugs worked out.

How do i set the ram to 3200mhz and the ram which we have selected are made to run at 3200 right??
Go into the BIOS and select DOCP Standard for the AI Overclock Tuner setting then select the 3200 MHz DOCP profile and set Memory Frequency to 3200 MHz if it doesn't do that automatically.
Here is a pic of mine running at 3400 MHz (it took quite a while to get it to work at that speed so leave yours at 3200)

Hey guys Im having pretty much the same exact issue. Im using a ryzen 5 2600x and the Asus ROG Strix B450-F mobo, with 2 16 GB corsair vengence pro 3200 DDR4 ram. and when i boot up the yellow light is on indicating there is an issue with the ram. also nothing is displayed on the monitor when i plug into the graphics card. everything including the graphics card and the case rgb light up except the ram. I tried switching the sticks and using one at a time.

Are you able to test the RAM in another system to eliminate that source of error? If you are able to test other RAM and you're still getting that obnoxious light I'd suggest RMA.

Out of curiosity was your first motherboard factory wrapped/sealed when it arrived? Mine was not and it sketched me out, low and behold it didn't work and I sent it back to NewEgg lol

I was thinking of calling my local computer repair shops to see if they ave spare components they can use to test my pc to see which is the source of error and then getting that replaced. and my motherboard was sealed in the antistatic plasitic in the box but the box itself was not sealed with any type of tape.

Alternatively to paying the labor cost for a repair shop, are you able to purchase a plugin BIOS speaker? Should give you the error code on bootup and you'll be able to tell what's causing it

that was something i was looking into but it will take a while before i can get it since i dont think any stores near me sells it so i might have to order it. and the shop near me usually wont charge me if i jsut have them see what the problem is and not fix it but ill order it and see if they will look into it, if not then ill have the speaker

Also i noticed this after my first post but the mouse doesn't seem to be powering on. ive hooked up the keyboard and it turns on (I can tell because both the keyboard and mouse have rgb lighting). the mouse works fine when i hook it up to my laptop. idk if its cause the pc hasnt even got to the post screen or because i dont have os right now. its my first build.
