Hey guys, I have a "problem" with the RGB logo on my Strix X870E-E motherboard and cannot find anything relevant online so I though someone here could have an idea. Next step would be to contact Asus I guess. Or just leave it off, but I payed 400$ for this board so I would expect that something as basic as a RGB logo would work for this price.
So here is the issue: as usual, the default RGB mode for the Asus logo on the board is this ugly rainbow wave. In the BIOS, you can set it to on, off or Windows Dynamic Lighting. No way to set a solid color in the BIOS (Asus don't do that, for some reason). I absolutely don't want to leave Armoury Crate running on my PC. This crappy software had caused so many problems when I had it installed and anyway, I have enough software running in background right now (iCUE and G Hub).
What I used to do was to install Armoury Crate to set the RGB and then uninstall it with the Asus uninstall tool. With my old board it worked and it was remembering the setting forever but with this one it just doesn't work. As soon as I uninstall the software and reboot the PC the rainbow is back. I also tried to set the "Shutdown effect" lighting mode but it doesn't work with the newest version of Armoury Crate (people reported this problem on forums) and anyways, as I understood this is only for when the computer is off or sleeping (if you wake it up it goes back to the regular mode).
Since I couldn't find a way to set the default RGB to something else than the ugly rainbow, I decided to try the Windows Dynamic Lighting and it worked... until the computer went to sleep. When it wakes up, the rainbow is back and I have to go to the Windows Dynamic Lighting settings and manually turn it off and on again to get my solid color back. I noticed that if I set a lightning effect that is moving, it seems to actually be running behind the rainbow after the computer wakes up. It's like the Windows lighting is still working, but waking up the computer makes the default rainbow turning on and running over it (and turning off and on Windows Lighting turns off the rainbow so I can see my custom color again). I don't understand why Windows Dynamic Lighting can take over the default rainbow when I boot, but cannot do it when the computer wakes up from sleep.
Also, since I have to use iCUE for my keyboard, AIO and fans, I cannot just blindly install another RGB software like OpenRGB or SignalRGB. I could break iCUE which is infinitely more important than the Asus logo. If anyone has any ideas (or has a similar issue) please let me know.
