Asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0

Hey.
I have just switched from a Sabertooth R1 to the new R2.
It seems to have lost the ability to unlock the two extra cores on my Phenom X II 555.
The R1 would do so comfortably and then run them all at 3.8. The new Mobo can't see the extra cores at all.

I have tried the latest BIOS and still no joy.

Any ideas?

Why you would switch just because of a revision 2. All they did was update some of the software and guarantee compatibility with Windows 8, and some other features not on the first version.

Maybe there isnt support for the Phenom ii X2 cpus yet or at least compatibility for core unlocker, as the motherboard has it.

Did u go in the bios and find it or just look for the button on the start up?

I didn't know there was a button on start up?

I'm in the BIOS under the core activation menu in Advanced settings. Exactly where the unlock was on the R1.

I only switched because I bought the R1 the other day just to have Amazon reduce it the day after and add the R2! So I sent it back for an exchange. The CPU is in the compatibility list. I wonder if it is capable of unlocking other chips or if it's just x2s.

Ah i see, thought u meant upgraded from R1 to R2, well usually when the motherboard logo flashes and says what button to hit for bios etc, theres usually one that says press "_" for Core unlocker or something.

The bios doesnt have the activation? or it just doesnt work?

It has 'cpu core activation' You can set it to auto or manual.
If set to Auto there are no more options.
If set to manual you get another menu that lets you disable one of the two cores on the 555. But it can't seem to see the two extra cores that the R1 had.

The R1 had different wording for this section of the BIOS.

So it looks like they have disabled the ability to unlock cores. Which is both very annoying and stupid.

Weird that they would do that. i dont think they'd do that but still include core activation, maybe contact asus about the issue.

i have the same board and i can't unlock the other extra cores because i don't have ability to do that.. i have the same problem dude 🙁
