Hi everyone,

I recently built my custom pc. After starting up and installing windows, The pc freezes (screen stays on but everything else freezes) within roughly 1-5min after login in to windows. What's strange is the PC runs fine if i put my GPU in the second pcie x8_2 slot on my motherboard. I've tried to update the bios in the motherboard but still nothing's changed. Can anyone help me to see which of my hardware is causing the freeze? My build parts listed below

(No overclock for all parts)
i7-6700K
Asus Hero IX
Corsair Vengeance LED 16GB DDR4 3000MHz
Asus Strix 1080 A8G
Kraken X52
Samsung 960 Evo NVME SSD
Samsung 850 Evo SATA SSD
Corsair RM1000x

P.S. I had a similar issue before when I used the motherboard Asus Hero VIII (PC freezes after a while) with the same other parts for CPU, GPU etc. I RMA'd that board and replaced it with Asus Hero IX), so unless I'm extremely unlucky, I don't think it's the motherboard's problem.

I checked other forums and it could be a fault in the cpu's pcie controller that's causing the pcie x16_1 slot to not function properly when the gpu's connected to that slot, any experts here can shed some light on this?
