ya that's cool seeing you all ready got .. I got a sabertooth 990fx sitting here collecting dust in its box

you could build a haswell with a z97 and your memory [ddr3 ] yopur using now will work - all I did was buy a z87 board and a 4670 cpu and everything else was pulled off the AM3+ build

z87 at the time was 145$ the cpu was 185$ and reused the hard drive [with fresh win7 install ] re used the memory gskill ddr3 1600 2x8gb reused the power supply and what ever else was needed

tyhen that asrock 990fx extreme 6 is just only 90 bucks after rebate ??

86 bucks after rebate on that gigabyte

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157576

you could limp along on that if needed I guess seeing you got parts ready to go right on it with out spending extra for them and be just fine for a bit longer

if you were buying a whole new complete build then amd would be out and would recommend intel all the way

Never read into this, but how would I flash the new bios firmware without being able to boot? Can I access the bios without the cpu being explicitly compatible?

Okay, if that's the case, this mobo is out of the question, is the same case for this one?
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/970-PRO-GAMING-AURA/

I see that the BIOS version fot the Fx8350 is 0401, I am not sure if when I buy from Amazon, it'll ship with 0401 :S

Do you know?

well mine that came wit first release had no sticker with / stating the bios revision the boards I got with a later bios had a sticker with t he bios used over first release [around the bar code sticker on the side of the box ]

also in your first post you said something about a sabertooth R3 [looking like a $200$ headache to him right now ?? ]

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3331270/990fxr3-black-screen.html

this motherboard the 8350 is supported under ''ALL'' bios should be goof proof as far as that bios support goes out of the box

http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme6/?cat=CPU

the asus as well 8350 is supported under bios 0401 but good old asus has bios 0402 as first release ???? but still should be covered out of the box

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/970-PRO-GAMING-AURA/HelpDesk_Download/

this guy got one [asus aura ] and he liked it and worked out well for him

''The Asus 970 Aura arrived last night. I have my FX6300 on it. It manages to match or beat the single core scores of my 8350. Single core is what matters for gaming so far anyway, so I don't expect a huge dip in fps. I'm actually able to overclock the EVGA 1070SC way farther and stably than I ever could with the 990FXA + 8350 setup.''

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3320638/kinda-urgent-990fxa-gaming-replacement-backup.html

if priced right maybe fine thing is I don't get if he used the 8350 in it and then the 6300 and the 6300 did better on it ?? maybe due to a 95w cpu used instead of a 125w ????

like I say it was AM3+ that drove me to intel for my first time ever in 16 years and cant say it was a wrong move in any way

Overclocking on the 970 chipset is not recommended, I don't plan to overclock any time soon, so I think this should be okay for me, do you agree? I hope it ships with the BIOS update for my CPU lol

Would you recommend the Asus 970 Pro Gamer Aura for me then?

I guess ? all I can say is my ''LAST'' 3 asus's were my ''LAST '' asus's

with any of this anymore you buy what you feel is best for your needs you build it and fire it up it will run stable or it don't or not at all .. that's with any brand .

anyone you get could be the best board you ever had or just a joke ??

I messaged him.

I saw on that thread, you were talking about VRMs? Can you explain what they are and how many the 970 Pro Gamer has? Not enitrely sure about this stuff

Thanks

i'll look. I think is a good 8 phase on that asus a lot of 970 boards may just have 4 I got to admit it looks like a solid board

toms review says it Voltage Regulator7+1 Phase [ that 7 for the cpu / board and 1 for the memory ]

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-970-pro-gaming-aura-motherboard,4557.html

''I marked in red area, where it hides the power circuit for the CPU and CPU uncore part. It is digitally controlled and consists of 7 + 1 phases. This is a bit unusual, but it has good reason. A team of testers has been found that one phase can handle high CPUNB at FX processors and others seven can therefore be left purely to the CPU''

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/576607-asus-970-pro-gamingaura-last-am3-warior/

http://www.overclock.net/t/761676/advanced-8-2-phase-cpu-vrm-power-design

anyway in my opinion using more then a 95w cpu on a AMD board I cant see going less than a 8 phase board [that 7+1 should be fine ]

Okay, I think I am settled, I am currently using a Gigabye GA-970A-UD3P, but I have a lot of audio latency issues. I hope you don't mind, but could you find anywhere where I will be downgrading if I go for the ASUS 970 Pro Gamer?

I am good at software, but new to hardware kinda

Thank you so much

The ASUS 970 Pro Gaming/Aura supports all AMD FX processors in AM3+ form-factor with up to 125W TDP as well as their predecessors, such as the Phenom II, the Athlon II and the Sempron 100-series chips (but advised against using the 220W FX-9000 series). The new motherboard has upgraded 8-phase power delivery and similar to other ASUS designs

http://www.anandtech.com/show/10005/asus-launches-970-pro-gaming-aura-motherboard

''8+2 phase CPU VRM power design for AMD high-TDP CPU support ''

http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-970A-UD3P-rev-10#ov

so your really not hurting there on that part ??

''but I have a lot of audio latency issues'' ???

sure that's not a driver issue ???

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2597065/sound-issues-gigabyte-970a-ud3.html

make sure you got the correct revision motherboard seems a chip change was used between them between via and realtech

''1.Realtek® ALC892 codec '' REV 2.0
http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-970A-UD3P-rev-2x#sp

''1.VIA® VT2021 codec'' REV 1.0

http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-970A-UD3P-rev-10#sp

some times a guy will not look at that and use the wrong support rev 1.0 drivers may not fully work or work at all on a rev 2.0 board and that little change can cost you

The issue is that, randomly, a popup from the Realtek Sound manager will appear saying that headphones have been connected, this in hand will re-reoute any sounds to the front audio panel of my pc, which will screw around with Spotify, YouTube or anywhere music plays. This means I have to restart the application for it to re-detect the correct sound interface. It really pisses me off.

The latency issue comes and goes, for example, when I am on SoundCloud listening, if I go to another page on Firefox, the audio will stutter, cut in and out, and sometimes freeze. I used DPCLat tool, which shows audio latency, it is crazy, I press one button on Windows and the latency will rocket up.

I hope it is a motherboard issue, I will change anyway.

Nevertheless, what disadvantages will i notice due to the downgraded VRM power design?

ya, I had a gigabyte 590 sli using headphones was a joke as well seemed like every time I wanted to use them I had to jump through hoops in its sound manager

some times you notice when you open the sound manager on some motherboards at the bottom left some are branded [asus - gigabyte ] and some are REALTEK

i''ll bet yours is gigabyte not realteck ???

http://i49.tinypic.com/291z6kk.jpg

realtek

http://i42.tinypic.com/mtbb6x.png

I noticed in life the mother board branded audio is not as good and why it don't use the REALTEK name brand [opinion]

This is how mine looks:

http://s7.postimg.org/8apvrcn8b/image.png

that's what I'm getting at that's gigabytes version see this is what I mean its got the realtek chip on the board but seems the manager is gigabytes own interface not realteks and I think that's why it has gigabyte and not fully realtek

see heres mine its a reaktek interface . not asus not asrock not gigabyte fully realtek with there name at the bottom no one else's

http://imgur.com/DK9qUmY

thing is anymore you buy this stuff and hope it works as expected . that's all there is to it

Hi again, I tried installing newer driver, same thing happens, gonna have to get the ASUS 970 Pro Gamer Aura

Can you tell me, will I notice any performance drop due to the 7+1 power phase on the ASUS board as oppose to the 8+2 on my current board?

I would like the ability to overclock in the future but I am not in any rush to do so

Thanks
