Asus TUF Z270 Mark 2 LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard - Adding RAM

I own a Asus TUF Z270 Mark 2 LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard with 32GB of RAM (G.SKILL 32GB (2 x 16GB) Ripjaws V Series DDR4 PC4-19200 2400MHz Intel Z170 Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15D-32GVR) in it. It is working perfectly. However, I just bought another 32GB of the exact same RAM to bring the computer to 64GB (the max it can handle).

I installed the two new modules into bank one, leaving the 2 original modules in bank zero.
I booted the computer, it turns on, but gives me no display at all.

I turn off again, and removed all the memory. I installed the NEW modules into bank zero. The computer booted up and worked perfectly. I installed the original modules into bank one, leaving the new modules in bank zero, and got the same negative results (no display). I removed all the modules again and installed the original modules back into bank zero and the machine works perfectly again.

Just to be clear, when installing and removing the memory modules, the computer was turned off and unplugged each and every time.

  * I proved that there is nothing wrong with the new memory modules.
  * The new modules are the same as the original modules to prevent compatibility issues.
  * It seems to be a problem with bank one of the motherboard.

Is there a jumper or something I need to do that I did not? I cannot find anything in the motherboard manual about this.

OR is the problem what I think it is, the second bank on the motherboard is defective.

Ideas?

If starting the board with single RAM in one of the "bank 1" slots, does the pc POST?

To be abundantly clear. Bank one contains two 16GB modules. I cannot put just one in there. I have to fill the entire bank. When I fill bank zero, with two 16GB modules, the computer works perfectly.

When I add an additional two 16GB modules to bank one, the computer does not display anything at all, but it does power up. Since I get no display (my monitors do not even detect a connection) I am guessing that the computer does not post.

It does not matter which modules I put in bank one to get this result.

The question is: Is there a jumper a way that I need to activate bank one or should it be automatic?

Why not? Just for testing if the slot does work when no other RAM modules inserted.

OK, i put 1 module in bank one while leaving 2 in bank zero and the computer does not post. I put 1 module in bank zero leaving all other clots empty and the computer does not post. I put 2 modules in bank zero and the machine boots fine.

This still doesn't answer my question. Does this motherboard require something to be done, such as moving a jumper on the motherboard, in order to activate bank one?

I don't understand. The cpu does not have pins. The cpu is flat on the bottom and I used an install kit to put it in. Nothing to bend.

I said socket, not CPU. To check the socket, you'd have to remove the CPU.

Again, the cpu has no pins, so how would a pin in the CPU socket get bent. I cannot take the enthusiasm machine apart just to take the cpu. I don't see any options here to add a picture.

Ok, I get it. Honestly, I was just trying to find out if there was a switch I needed to flip to activate bank one. If not, and if it is a bent pin, I will just send the motherboard back and have it replaced. It is still under warranty.

To boot with only 1 stick it needs to be in slot a2. I suspect your RAM is just not playing nice together because it isn't a kit. There is a mem OK button on the motherboard that will automatically try to adjust timings and such to get it to work but you will have to look in the manual to find out how because it has been too long for me to remember how.

that point is moot since I have no need to use only one module.

There is a mem OK button on the motherboard that will automatically try to adjust timings and such to get it to work but you will have to look in the manual to find out how because it has been too long for me to remember how.

Isn't this for memory that is different speeds? These are identical modules.

I was just pointing it out because you had tried to boot with 1. No it's for RAM of the same speed that won't boot. Sometimes with all the slots occupied it takes a little extra voltage or you have to relax the timings, the mem ok button does it automatically. I don't know a lot but I have had issues before when trying to get 2 separate kits to work together. I have the same motherboard I just haven't updated my signature.
