I just got it second-handed today and I really want to use it to play CSGO at 1024*768 120hz (I know the resolution is really low, well, I'm used to that)
but the thing is.. I'm not using PC, I only own a laptop (which is able to produce stable 130-250fps) and my laptop (N550JV) has an HDMI and a MiniDisplayport
and what I've learned from the internet is that, I need to use 'MiniDisplayport to Dual Link DVI-D Active with USB powered' adaptor to be able to run this monitor VG236H@1080p120hz but I don't need that high resolution(and the adaptor is around 90-120usd.. which is a bit too high for me) and some say that HDMI1.4 is able to perform 1024*768 120hz

so before I make my decision and get a decent HDMI cable, I want to ask you guys if anyone here has been using this method to play CSGO on this monitor? or even using 120hz on any application with HDMI cable

ps. I know that some monitor is able to produce 120hz@1024*768 via HDMI cable, but for this monitor (VG236H) I'm not really sure.. because the manual said that 'to use Nvidia 3D, DVI-D port is the only port that will work'
ps2. I'm not a native English speaker.. so sorry for my bad English.

You think that really work man? Because last I heard HDMI is digital and DVI-D Dual Link is analog
And yeah, I think N55JV HDMI will handle that hz, it's up to version of the HDMI though, it is 1.4a as I last looked on internet
thanks for the answer man

and the other thing is, I already tried to use MiniDisplayport to DVI-D, Single Link (with 24+1 pins) which is a cheapo adaptor(passive)
the monitor said "No DVI Signal"
so yeah, I doubt that HDMI to DVI-D would work

still wanting for more answer!

I already tried to use standard HDMI 1.4 cable, and all I can do is CSGO on 1024*768@75hz
As I read, the bandwidth of HDMI 1.4a and lower is able to achieve that resolution with 120hz refresh rate

This got me headache
