ASUS Z97-A STand-By Mode When Overclocking

Hi everyone,
I have a problem i have been trying to diagnose for awhile now and i have replaced and RMAd my GPU, Mobo, and PSU.

My rig:
Mobo - Asus Z97-A (UEFI BIOS)
Cpu - i7 4770k
GPU - Nvidia GTX 760
PSU - EVGA Supernova 850W
RAM - 2x2G

Every time i try to overclock my CPU (i use Ai Suite 3 or the EZ tuning inside BIOS), the VGA LED on my mobo turns red, the PC doesnt pass POST and my monitor goes into stand-by mode. I can usually get past this stand-by mode after a few reboots but it is god awful annoying to had to do that. Has anyone else had a problem with this? I RMAd my mobo (which was "repaired" not replaced) and GPU but that didn't do anything. Then i bought a new PSU, a new case, and a Corsair H80i because i thought maybe the processor was overheating or something.

I have no idea what else to do

This means that either the video card isn't installed or the memory on the video card is bad.Reseat VGA if not solved maybe VGA card is ruined

why would it only do that when i overclock my CPU though? If it isnt overclocked it doesnt boot up that way

Try use another vga card it should work

bump if anyone else has any idea what the problem might be, it's my second EVGA GTX 760 so i just don't know the odds of getting 2 bad cards that mess up when the CPU is overclocked

what is your BIOS brand?

The first step might be to stop using AI Suite/EZ tuning for the overclock. I haven't tested on z97, but I know that previous versions changed all sorts of settings and voltages that wouldn't need to be touched if you were doing a manual overclock.

Just checked this on my old z68 board - BCLK (default=100) was set to 104 when using AI Suite to overclock. I had the same problem you described.

I'm sure there are plenty over o/clocking guides around here if you're new to this.

I think there should be an option to disable/ignore baseclock if you're using the AI Suite 5 Way optimization.

BTW, any idea what was "repaired" on the mobo.

im pretty sure they just took out the cmos battery and put it back in rofl

i manually OCed the cpu to 4.4ghz and everything has been working fine so far, ill wait tomorrow when i get home from work to see if its the solution though haha

I had a BSOD relating to CPU, it relates to voltages or temps. My temps are fine so i'm messing with the voltages. Either way, DO NOT USE AUTOMATED OVERCLOCK PROGRAMS DO IT YOURSELF!
