I redid the thermal paste on my G14 the other day and when i was reconnecting the battery I believe I shorted the diode that charges the battery and reads battery percentage. It currently stays at “100% charged” and only boots on AC power.
This is my first assumption because sparks flew in an area seperate from the laptop’s battery connector. I feel that I didn’t short the battery itself because it still charges through usb-c power delivery (not ideal because it constantly cycles the battery, and i still cant read percentage) and when it initially was broken the battery still had a charge and it worked on battery power.
Do you know of any way I can fix this? I have a soldering iron and a multimeter but i have no clue how to read the blueprint for which diodes to check. I don’t want to buy a new motherboard because replacement is going to be $500+. It’s an Asus Zephyrus G14 G401QM
I have tried:
Disconnecting the battery and holding the power button for sixty seconds.
Calibrating the battery: letting it fully die, sit for six hours, then try to charge.
Uninstalled and reinstalled battery and AC power drivers.
Charging when both AC and power delivery at the same time. (Only works 1 out of a few times.)
