IM running an amd athlon 800 on an abit kt7 133 and im using a thermaltake fan... im recording heat of around 34 celsius when im doing things like internet... and when i play quake 3 it gets up to 60 celsius is this a sevre problem can it cause any thing to happen system wise?
and is there anything like patches i need to apply to win98?

It is normal that 3D games make the CPU heat more since the CPU DOES work more, but there is also the video card that heats the air in the casing. If you are a bit concerned about heat, get a 3" casing fan to help air into the casing. I did and now temperature never gets above 55C. You can also try another fan/heat-sink. I bought a thermaltake for my 1Ghz Tbird to discover it work wost than the one that came with my PC 🙁 You can even try some thermal paste.

Try to get a GlobalWin HSF, reasonable priced, effective. FOP38 if you want lower temp and dont mind the noise (CPU fan noise if good as it would tell you that your fan is working -:) ) or a FOP32 as it is less noise.

I have the Golden Orb on my TB 1 gig before and i change to FOP38 and about 7 C drop in temp. Improve your case air ventilation is of great help too, as no HSF can help you if the air inside your case is too hot.
