A strange friend found an old FIC MB stock, 60 AZ11.
Would it be realy a bad idea if he assambled it with this MB? He want to offer it for cheap price.

50 of them? If he's building systems he'd be better off with Tautalin 1.2-1.4GHz PIIIs. Run cooler and the same performance. Guy at work has a computer I might buy from him thats a dual 1.2GHz Tautalin PIII system with 1.5GB of RAM. Would make an excellent, silent server.

Still, 50 of 'em ? I don't think they're available in such a volume from a single source.

Beside, if 1.1GHz CPUs could do the job, I don't see a problem with running a Sempie underclocked due to FSB limitations, the lack of BIOS support is much more of an issue IMHO.

Your best bet would be to try putting a Sempron on one of those mobos and see if it works.

Regardless, I don't think it is smart to purchase those elderly mobos in bulk, even if you manage to find enough CPUs and memory to pair them up with, I doubt that you'll be able to sell them.

Getting a P3 just is'nt an option nor a solution, the 60 (Sixty) motherboards he can get his hands on are Socket A, beside, even if they were Socket 370, he would have the exact same problem, getting 60 (Sixty) obsolete CPUs.

Ya that is aproblem where can you find so many p3's? I know chinatown! In chinatown in manhatten i can get a 1.0ghz coppermine for 30$ and a 1.4 ghz tualatin 50$ 😀 Greta prices right even better he has a 9700pro for 100$ with a purchase of any of the procs.

If you're looking for resale, you're looking in the wrong place. It's a nice idea, but there'll be next to no profit in systems that old, especially with the lack of parts availability but also in the amount of time it'll take to build 50-60 systems from parts.

You want to buy a lot of 10 P3s? What the hell would you do with them? The P3 is a great chip, no doubt about that, but the newest one is still like 5 years old or something.

Look i love the p3 architecture and i bet i'll like conroe but i just love the classics a 1.4 ghz tualitan can take on a k7 at 1.8ghz but it's almost even with k8 at the same speed.
