but i can DEFINATLY tell the difference between 40fps and 60fps.
Oh really I have read that humans can not detect the difference. But either or what’s the deal with jumping on Kanavit. I really don’t understand you guys, you are quite smart, some more than others some just mimicking at least in the terms of read knowledge, practical value of this information seems to only be beneficial here.

But you would think that with all this ego there would be room for some "I'm clueless people" with the ego's helping them along the way.

Oh well I am rambling you guys have always loved a good group flaming, since Delphi.

Just an observation while being stoned.

After seeing this post (and threads), and after the reading of the CPU comparisims done by anandtech, I am hopping with joy. seems like my money spent on my new system didnt go to waste... getting my new pc tomorrow.

AMD A64 3200+ (Newcastle) <= CAN YOU BELIEVE IT. Upgraded from a AXP 1700+, no reason I am not gonna cry with happiness.

1GB Corsair ddr400 CL2.5 <= Can't get enuff cash to have a good pair of these... but was it worth it getting these rather than 2x256 DDR400 Corsair XMS Xtreme latencys? enlighten me. pls.

MSI K8T Neo FIS2R. <= OK, you guys recommended me to get the K8N, but got this instead, loooooowwww ooonnnn cccaaassshhhh.

R9600Pro @ XT speeds. <= Duh. This is gonna lousy in D3. What resolutions can I get to play d3 with?

OK, lastly to thank all of you for giving me advice on which CPU to get and other stuff.

Went from new AXP 3200+ to a 3.2E to a 3.2C to A642800+ to A643000+ and finally... a A64 3200+. pity though that the clawhammer chip was out of stock. but after you guys tellin' me that it didnt matter coz of the 200mhz increase, i went ahead, which was confirmed in the anandtech CPU shootout.

You all rock.

Re: But either or what’s the deal with jumping on Kanavit.

Kanavite is Kanavite lost in a world of intel confusion. Maybe you should repeat some of what he has been preaching. It might start a healthy debate and you might learn a few things.

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

well most people cant, bceause their eyes arent "trained". again im not trying to brag

its just like if you play guitar, you can pick up the tones/pitches 1000x better than someone whos never played an instrument before. ive been playing games/tweaking video cards/messing with frame rates for a while...

and about Kanavit.. hes like, funny man. we will explain something, and he will go on abotu someting that totally makes no sense whatsoever.. we are nice to him, but common, if someone says stuff like that hes GOING to get teased. nothing personal tho, hes a good guy

Ha-ha learn from THCG, maybe how to flame. I can safely say that I have learned next to zero from this forum. I read a sick amount of information when I am not working and come here for the gossip columns, otherwise known as threads.

I don’t know if you haven’t noticed but the general opinion of this forum is pro opinion. The debates all crumble (yup I do it) into flame fests. In fact I am quite hard pressed to find a thread that doesn’t have some sort of flame in it.

Now before you say well you can leave if you don’t like it, I never stated I didn’t like just stating a simple observation not trying to knock any one.

boy i agree with you there, this forum certianlly is no place of realy learning and hearing new things. alot of people here get very set in their ways and will not budge no matter what. i really feel sorry for those that come here thinking they can get good suggestions for systems. you know what im talking about, there are those on both sides that keep the reotric high with little facts.

i come here for the same reasons you do, to see the shows and to see what will happen next, and everyone once in a while, try to throw some balanced words in, man things get personal here alot lol. i get my real news and good sources from elsewhere and i rarely take anythign said here as reality unless i find it to be true on my own. but there are a few times whne the debate has been good, some ppl can be civil and still get a point across.

i dont see what the problem is..

the simple fact is theres clear cut answers to questions that most poeple ask. "im buying a celeron, is there any other cpu that i can get for cheap?". the obvious answer is going to be to get an AthlonXP. or someone asks what the best gaming system is, obvious answer is Athlon64. someone does video editing, P4C/E is definately the cpu to get

can you give me some examples of what you mean? because i think Xeon is just a little miffed because P4Man and him argue alot.. but they argue about hardcore stuff thats totally over the average persons head

heh fascinating benchies...
I havnt seen such an ass spank since they compared the duron to the northwood cellery.
A 3000+ a hair slower than a 3.4EE... wow.

Interesting that you mentioned memory bandwidth as being a factor...
But the socket 754 cpu's dont have all that much bandwidth... just 1 channel of PC3200.
It must be the latency of accessing main memory thats the key.

id say on the whole most ppl are ok aorund here, but its those taht will only recommend one part no matter what and try to make excuses for it by making false claims, thats the only problem i see.

most of the time i enjoy the debates

Oh and Xeon... all that stuff about framerates and being unable to tell the difference is right, but its only half the story.

The human eye is a complex thing... it doesnt run on "framerates". Its analogue, not digital. And is exceedingly good at picking up movement.

If you have a completely stationary image or game then you could quite happily see it at 10fps and would be none the wiser.
There is no movement, so no frame of refrence to tell if its jerky or not.

The same with slow and gradual movemnts...
40fps would be fine as the rate of change per frame is minimal.

However the faster the movement onscreen, the larger the difference between each seperate frame at a certain fps.

So if you are playing a fast paces frag fest with lots of hard and sharp movements (e.g. rapid 9 and 180 degree turns) you DO need quite a high framerate as the RATE OF CHANGE is very high.

So even 60fps may not be enough to avoid that jerky feeling in any shoot em up.

Yes Yes.. I see what you mean. But where not playing UT here. This is DoomIII. Honestly, I think that if the game is not being ruind by low frames, the scare factor is still there, and boy, this is a great game. I real think comparing a P4 to an Athlon with a game is like apples and oranges. Same thing would be with comparing the two for non gaming apps. Its obvious who the leader is. It makes sence for some one to buy an Athlon to game with. What doesnt make sence are these intel and athlon fanboys makeing all this comotion. I have both and im damn happy.

There is a reason why North American power runs at 60 cycles/second. They did that math a century ago. It's still true today.
Of course the Euros use 50 hz, but they have older scenery.

Shut up.

46,510 , movin on up. 48k new goal. Maybe not.. :/

Although you can't technically see the difference at 85fps, you will notice a difference when something crazy gpu intensive happens and it drops that number down to 50fps. The higher the fps is .. the higher it will dip down in area's that are intense. That is why high framerates are important to a gamer.

yes there is that too.
Higher average framerate means better minimum framerate.

And its the minimum framerates that annoy us the most.

As regarding how much 'movement' or action doom3 has... well ill just have to wait.

85fps is where i cant tell anymore. i say "85" not because i can tell exactly that its 85fps, but because its the refresh rate my monitor is at. when its at 85fps or higher, then i can no longer tell

70fps? i woudlnt be able to tell that its 70, i woudl just know that its very sligly lower than 85. 60 i can tell, just like you can tell when your monitor is set to 60hz (kills your eyes with flicker)
