yeah even at 229 after mir (not to mention you will wait two month to get your 20-40 dollar rebate back for what its worth at that point. But even at 230 the 6870 is a better buy at 220 ar or less, its newer tech and when oc'ed can match the 5870 and beyond, in newer games they are basically identical in some cases. believe me I know I've owned both cards in the past, and what authority are you to say that the 5870 is better ever tried either of them, they are in the same ballpark of performance, the 6870 is newer tech, scales better, does tesselation better, and ands down is the better but although the 5870 is a bit faster at stock for the money i'd go with the new tech

hey well first thing u want to check is the size of ur case, i can fit the ati 5770 with amaizing preformance, so check online for card sizes, mesure ur box from the pin layout that the card clips into to the front where the slots are, the 5870 is 11 inches long , 26 cm so compare from that. if u have a big enough case like me im upgrading to the ati 6950 next week i have a amd x6 procecor 8 gbs ddr2 ram blue ray combo dvd multi recorder and dvd reritable,me personally recon get the one that leaves ablou 1/2 to an inch space so the card can get cool air to cool the card down

the 6870 is better than the 5870, but in some cases the 5870 mAY out perform it, the newer is always better IMO.

No you are wrong, the 5870 is much better than the 6870, the 6950 or even the 6970 is the one you should be directly comparing both RAdeon cards with.
