ATi 850X Platium Rocks !

it`s seems you got serious problems man in there.......if you have 21 fps with that card in max payne 2 ..of course you forgot to mention the resolution....that means you will probably have .. lets say 22 fps with x1900xtx........
i hope that answers to your mistery.........my friend ....
P.S.
that particular card of yours easily blows arrond 100 or even 200 fps in max payne 2 1280x1024, AA 6x, AF 16x, all details to the max ..ohh but ofcourse with a proper CPU

it really sounds like someone put a supercharger on a geo metro
slap that bad boy in a real computer you will get some good frame rates

are you using a clean copy of XP or did you just rip out your old invidia card & bung in an ati & not use a program like driver cleaner ??

ouch... from that spec, u need a bit more system memory straight off, XP needs a minimum of 256mb to run properly... games like 512mb or more (battlefield2 likes 2gig of memory best !!)

Ah... i see... blame a perfectly decent graphics card for bad performance in a heavily bottlenecked pc.... I really see the flawless logic.....

jesus christ...my dear friend .....128 ram 15gb hdd... you will get the same gaming experience if you use tnt riva .....
that video card ..... loves games like call of duty 2 or fear ..or battlefield 2 half life 2 to the floor baby and many many others...who wont even start without 512 ram....and a proper cpu...
games like call of duty 2 likes 1024 ram ...to run properly and so on.......i`ve tried to run call of duty 2 with 512 and a64 3000+ on x800gto and it crushed .. i could say it was imposible to play it

conclusion.....with that sistem of yours my friend it`s IMPOSIBLE to run x850xt platinum........even if it works electrically it will probably bring less than 1% of that`s beast power.....

you will need at least an a64 lets say around 3000+ or his counter part intel 3Ghz....and lots lots of ram ...prefferably 1024

He might just be lacking the correct system chipset drivers, aswell as possibly video drivers even (default Direct X drivers will suck on any card).

Sadly many people never install their mainboard chipset drivers and get about 1/5th (or less) the performance they should be getting, and never 'notice' for 3 years. , Still that is their problem and not mine.

If he didn't install either of the drivers (above) he would get about 20 fps in anything more advanced than Half-Life 1 / Counter-Strike (original) regardless of system specs.

Perhaps he just needs assistance in that regard ?

What mainboard are you running 'Shock_the_Rock' ?, we can get the chipset for it swiftly here, and have even an older PC performing like brand here around here. 8)

Different driver here, video card driver and Direct X 9.0c upgrade there, before you know it rig will feel like new. (I hope).

Heck, I run the Radeon X800 XL (lower card than that), and most games only use one of my CPU cores, and I get 80 - 180 fps in Half-Life 2 / Source games (within that range)... and about 70fps in the HL2: Lost Coast benchmark at 1280 x 1024, but can't recall if that was with FSAA or not. 😛

OH Boy ... I`m Sorry For Your Monster ( X850XT Platinum ) ...
Hey What Is Your PSU ?? I Suggest Dont Use X850XT Platinum on That System Or You May Damage The Beast ...

128 mb sdram
15 gb hdd
1.9 ghz **** cpu
intel 915 mobo

Well he needs 1 GB RAM at least, whatever speed / type his board will take.

A 15 GB HDD (even at 15,000 rpm, although would seek fast) would have very low data transfer rates (DTR), around 20 MB/sec tops, and more likely to be half of that (8 MB/sec give or take is my guess).

Fix both of those and he'd be able to get at least 70fps (average) in most games at 'normal' settings. (1280 x 960/1024, 2x/4x FSAA, 4x/8x Ansio).

Not sure what CPU he is running, but even the 1st gen Pentium 4 at 1.8 GHz or a Celeron would not be 'too bad' once RAM + HDD are fixed when paired with that card. (I'd still upgrade CPU though, depending what it is, but AFTER THE RAM, and HDD).

Intel i915 chipset implies an Intel CPU, and even though i915 isn't great PCIe x16 performance wise, it is still good enough. (Assuming he did plug monitor into his new video card, and not try for onboard video output after just installing the card here, if that is even possible  ).

With under 1 GB, (128 MB = ) moden games will be paging to disk like mad, and with that small/slow HDD doing the paging it is going to hurt.... heaps !

Yeah, even my system will run better if I had that GFX card

Athlon XP 1800+
256 PC2100 DDR 266Mhz
30GB Western Digital ATA100 7200RPM

well, it wouldn't run it that well because my XFX MX-4000 is a POS, but you can still upgrade your PC to decent gamming levels. I think you should upgrade to at least 512MB DDR RAM if possible. Also try a newer 80GB 7200RPM HD. They have pretty good read rates. Or get a 250GB if you want extra space. The CPU isn't as important in games, but you can get a better one if you want. Which intel 915 board is it? Is it LGA775? If it is, you can get a cheap Pentium D 805 Dual Core @ 2.66Ghz per core. Decent enough for gaming. @$130 on Newegg

Hope that helps :)

so, you don't seem to like that card, don't worry about it, I should have a GForce 2 lying around here somewhere...I am a nice guy so lett's swap cards,

greetz

Easy cleeve: He's simply misinformed. But were here to guide him.

Ok, I'm going to repeat, your system builder or w/e he is, is not only a jackass, but a complete moron as well. So lets clear that up right now.

Second: Your cards AGP: Which means your going to want to exploit your cards potential, your going to need a new mobo, CPU, (more or new) RAM and PSU. --Basically a new system. Which sucks becuase the last decent AGP boards were NF3. As I remember correctly, was much like KT133 or NF1...didnt overclock terribly well. I had a DFI Infinity-X with that Sempron 3000+ I had, didnt like FSB increases at all.

Bottom line: New system/components NEEDED. Its not an option.
Or do what these guys have said, take an old GF3, and pop it in.
Becuase your simply disgracing that GPU.

..indeed a new sistem must be build..but what i don`t understand..ok 128 ram 15 gb hdd....but hold it ...that x850xt platinum must be a trilion times more expensive that those other components you said you had in your sistem.....how could anyone build a sistem like that...

video card 500 bucks
ram 5 bucks
hdd 5 bucks
etc 5 bucks.........i must say i`m doing a little joke in here ...but you all got the picture guys

isn`t that a little strange you must say guys.........

ok ...first you must understant that everyone arround here .. those trying to help ... are pro`s..and i must admit that card on that kind of sistem it`s a joke indeed and many guys made a lot of jokes on it ... the card is simply to powerfull for that sistem...but there is hope ..listen...

i`m going to help you......first you must increase the amount of sistem ram ....try to find some additional RAM ..maybe 256 or higher ..than you test the sistem again and yuo`ll notice same improvement..
well 512 ram will do on many games..but for newer games .... you need 1024..this is the problem my friend that card is biuld to perform ...and newer games need a huge amount of RAM.... still there are going to be problems that hdd of yours is quite old and slow ..but first you must increase RAM.......
good luck

so plz tell me wut do i need to play da upcoming titles.

1) Stop trying to talk like you're some ghetto gangster. Christ.

2) Get a whole new system minus the graphics card. The P4 with SDRAM is horrible. It completely chokes the P4 with how slow it is. Not that 1.9GHz P4 is much good anyway. Ugh. Throw together even an AthlonXP 3200+, 512MB RAM, and a 80GB 7200rpm hard drive and you'd boost your framerate 4-5x. I played Max Payne 2 on a 2.6GHz P4C, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, and 128MB 9800 Pro just fine.
