No.... because it launched AFTER a better card (R9700) whose R&D payed off with performance to match; remember he ended his post with "You pay for what you get" and with the FX5800 you got loud & hot crap, so I don't think that drove people to pay a premium. 😉

If they are top end performance and everything, then people will pay more than if it's just a minor boost and the perceived value is less.

Guys just remember one thing nvidia is gonna have a press conference on 10th of september with that being said ,nor Ati nor nvidia has the lead on future dx11 cards ,you will never know if nvidia could release the cards before october or before december. So hold on to your breaths .Nvidia could pretty easily knock out ati ,you never ever know

Be at least December before the bun fight starts according to Digi. http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20090901PD204.html

ATi/AMD most definitely had the LEAD already having demoed cards, and having shipped them to devs, but that doesn't matter if they still lose the arms/VPU race in the long run.

Nvidia could pretty easily knock out ati ,you never ever know

Yep, anything can happen and being first doesn't ensure success they could lay an egg or launch a product that is bested a few short months later, but take a lot longer to counter.

You guys are missing 1 major factor when you’re getting a price idea

We are in a recession, which could easily be a depression of the news companies blabbed again

ATi's product is what is a called a luxury so demand will not be high so they will most likely ship at a low price so that they actually sell there product so expect a lower price

Things like this is the last thing ppl will buy so they will make it cheaper so ppl might think mm maybe I can afford it

ppl are saving there money which is adding to this recession ppl not buying stuff putting the ppl that make that stuff out of there jobs its a bad spiral which might cost the news companies there freedom in the future as they caused this problem

They are like the bad time travellers in your games they see something is going to happen and try and stop it and at the bottom line are what caused it in the first place its a bad butterfly effect

dude your probably back from long vacation. 5000 Series are SOLD OUT. There are short in every possible online store you can find. Demand is much higher than supply.

Recession or not , People are buying so it seems the price is right
