I have yet to game with these setting yet, wanna give it a warm-up period. See if any problems develop. I added some half star aluminum heat sinks by squeezing them into slots on the present heat sink nearest the core, extreamly stupid as you could break the solder points or the chip itself, but i've had great success so far.
Reconfigured slots so the open port now draws cool air across the agp card. No thermal paste or anchors for putting heat sinks on either gfx card's ram as of yet.
one problem might come into play during gameplay and heavy use, powerstrip seems to monitor voltage spikes, and is probably saving the system.. it will clock down during particle and vertex shading tests. To powerstrip's clock settings. 171/171. would be nice to match the agp bus speeds, or change those too.
I think dell was using the agp x4 as if it were a pci-e bus. the system detects it as a 1/1 ratio. to the south bridge and pci bus?, and 4/3 to the cpu/memory. Should be excellent as a server and gfx/crunching pc.
I took the cpu from my old dell 865pt chipset my second pc. my first being a pentium 100, which ended up with a 266mhz evergreentech? modded cpu. I had that until my bro sold it while i was on a trip. I disabled it so he couldn't use it, and he thought it was broken.. I'd still be gaming on it...
I want to know the limits of this system and test them, And then set it for the best long term. With the way agp is setup, I can swap it out maybe with a better card and get atleast 5x more performance overall, memory size and speed being key.
The cpu has been to 3.6ghz stable on the old system, air cooled. 4ghz stable for just internet browseing. I would love to get it to 3.2ghz =/ but this dell board is voltage limited. And i can't find a pll to unlock that. It's probably some chip dell put on the board to limit it besides the pll.
When i actually piece together a phenom, this one will be my new router with anti-v/fw and hopefully some hardware anti-v/fw as well, and dedicated boinc cruncher... I had this thing using cpu physics and simulated cuda... i can't get it to do it again =/
Is there some modded drivers possibly for the ati rage, this thing is setup as a mobile chipset. I was wondering if i could tweak around with a desktop driver?
