As the title suggests, AV program using elevated privilages to amend settings without permission.

I am talking about AVAST setting its safe browser as default without it ever opening up, or asking for permission to amend my setting as default browser.

Isnt this behaviour more suited to a 'you know what'? silently changing the default opening of a browser NOT previously set as default?

How many other AV programs do this? and Is this a regular thing we (as an online community) need to start addressing and/or reporting?

Solution
Just delete or disable its entry in the boot file, so it doesnt run.

I dont ever remember it setting itself as default; I suspect you clicked an "OK" at some point without reading it; same way so many people accidentally download and set Chrome as default browser.
