Hi!
Im building a new pc and i ve choosed the Core i5 7600K with the Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H Mother board. I was thinking to add the Vengeance® LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C14 Memory Kit but I saw that its designed for x99 and 100 series chipsets. any sugestions on what RAM should I use?
Thnx.

Solution
B250 does not support overclocking. Some boards may allow you to change the multiplier on an unlocked CPU, but you can't adjust voltage. But that's why I'm saying I would go with MSI, they usually either allow you to adjust the multiplier or use enhanced turbo mode for max speed on all cores.

If the RAM was made when 200 series came out it would say for X299 and 200 series boards. It doesn't make any difference. The RAM was just engineered before the 200 series was released, so naturally it says for 100 series. I have the same RAM, it runs at 3200MHz (On Z series mobo) with looser timings and higher voltage. It is very good memory.

*I would also recommend a Z series mobo if you can afford it. You've got some expensive RAM selected...

You want a better PSU, specially if you are going to overclock. You have selected a cheap crap PSU. Look for at least Corsair CX450 or better. If you are serious about overclocking you wanna go higher like Corsair RMx series or Seasonic Focus series.

What about GPU, don't you need a GPU? or is this just for non gaming usage?

Motherboard, if you are going to overclock you want a better motherboard for that. Your selected motherboard is decent but only have 6 power phases. You will want a board with 10 power phases if you are into serious overclocking.

im not building a gaming pc and im not trying to break oc records either. I have in mind a simple oc just to boost my pc. wont those be enough?

Then your build is fine except the PSU. Get a better quality as the one you selected is not safe. If it fails you risk to fry your whole system or even to start a fire.

i will look into those that you suggested above. regarding the cpu cooler and not-extreme oc should i know anything else?

i havent builded a pc part by part or purchased an unclocked cpu in the past. so thank you for our help.

Just take it slow when assembling and follow all steps carefully from the mobo and cooler manual and you will be fine. Just don't rush it if this is your first time assembling a computer.

yes of course. i know what im doing. im just asking for the input of other more seasoned users
so what about the cpu cooling?
