the price difference is pretty big between these two motherboards, i’m just wondering what features justify the increase in price? is it something i’ll need in future for upgrading purposes or just extra slots and what not? Since i’m on a tight budget i’d like help on which one is better for me to pick.

The Tomahawk is the better board, better VRM, more features etc.

For a basic system, no overclocking (and probably maxing out with a Ryzen5 would be best), the Pro-VDH-Max is fine, just far from exceptional.

I'm assuming you're looking at a Ryzen 3000 series CPU? If not, all B450 (non-Max) should be options...

planning to get a Ryzen 5 3600, would you mind explaining the features the Tomahawk Max has? To be honest though I don’t think I’ll be doing overclocking any time soon. Any other motherboards you’d recommend in the middle between these two price points?
