Hi! I’m doing my 4th or so computer build and finally updating my old monster. I’ve got a B550M DS3H AC I can not seem to get to flash (I’m on rev 1.3 and I believe not updated enough to support my 5600X). I can’t even get any display whatsoever connected to the GPU. No any LEDs or any QLED lights (or sounds from speaker hookups) when I try BIOS flash with the flash drive in the back, although all of my connected fans do turn on when I try turn on the machine.
Computer specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5600X
GPU: I’ve tried my main new unit the 6700 XT, and my old 7870. The 6700 XT’s fans don’t spin immediately (maybe a setting?) but the 7870 do. I can’t get display with either unit.
PSU: Corsair RM750e 750W
RAM: TeamGroup Vulcan 2x16GB. I’ve tried 1 stick and 2 stick configurations
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M DS3H AC

I’ve never had so many issues, so I’m wondering if the motherboard is likely bad or if I need to try a BIOS flash with everything disconnected. I previously tried it with just the CPU installed (I know, I should’ve removed it, but it was difficult to remove and I saw some saying you don’t necessarily need to on this unit).

Would a CPU that is not supported by the BIOS because it’s too new (but would be supported in later iterations) prevent any display from showing? The fans spin up and my header shows LEDs, I just don’t seem to see any activity on the motherboard itself outside of fans spinning.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Which BIOS version are you on at this moment of time?

If you look into your motherboard manual, you have a white button that is a Q_Flash Plus button, refer to this manual;
page 6, you should be good to go after the flash is successful.

Hey! I actually just got it figured out I believe. It was the flash drive. Both were FAT32, but I plugged in a second one at 4 GB vs the other at 16 GB and I was able to see the flash LED come on and hopefully complete install. I’m gonna check it finally tomorrow morning.

Never mind - partially. Tried this morning and I still can’t get a display. I’m getting signs of booting (fans turning on) but not seeing anything nor hearing anything trying to connect to the mobo speaker output.

I’ve tried swapping my graphics for an older model I know works but still the same situation. I just tried taking the CMOS battery out and restarting that way.

The only thing I have left I can think of to try is one additional PCI slot I could try graphics in but I can’t use that one in the case given space constraints. I’m thinking of taking the rig apart and maybe laying the mobo and components out, and if that PCI slot doesn’t work, getting a new mobo.
