It is also not clear that SSDs will be more likely to fail with age if the amount of data written stays within limits. They could have an initial failure rate similar to HHDs but those could represent manufacturing "lemons". The ones that survive initial use could still cruise to old age with almost no issues. Whether they do that we'll have to see.

Like Dr3ams I have been retiring small SSDs well before they get old.
