Ok, then I'll spin it on topic.
This article is about an article summing up a study, and inserts a big, fat anti-China bias while it's at it. And this seems to be prevalent in US press these days.
This is not an "article" - it's at best an editorial, and should be marked as such.
 
Why not?
What's their "agenda"?
Maybe to have all their ducks in a row when it comes to a court case or legal filing.

Maybe to confirm that the target IP really is where the data is going, rather than relying on some kind of IP spoofing/DNS hijacking setup to mislead as to where the data is going, though I'm rapidly getting outside of my area of expertise here.

There could be other reasons as well, that's just the first one off the top of my head without caffeine.

You're looking for some sinister motive on the part of the CISA and FDA where no evidence of such exists, and seem to want to turn a blind eye to the (potentially) guilty party/parties for whom evidence of wrongdoing actually exists.
 
I suppose, nothing relevant will happen, just a normal software/firmware upgrade.
Without forgetting, that the problem exists only if they are directly connected to the internet, without protection.
