BaldursGate2+win2k+sblive probs

having baldurs gate problems in win2k (when i upgraded from 98)
i put all the latest directx 8, 12.40 nvidia drivers (and 7's as well earlier) and latest sblive drivers
bg2 was just going amazingly slow. impossible to play
after much F**king about i found out the sound was to fault
but not any sound
i could have all baldursgate2 sounds on EXCEPT for ambient sounds
WFT is with that???
nice and smooth with all the rest. reduced to a dead slut with ambientsounds...

hmm
problem mysteriously solved.
downloaded win2000 pro service pack 2 over the weekend.
101mb over a 56k modem!
about 7 hours download time all up
lo and behold, the service pack update fixed the problem
curiouser and curiouser

yea you should go to <A HREF="http://www.ntcompatible.com" target="_new">http://www.ntcompatible.com</A> and theyll show you how to make a win2000 install disk with INTEGRATED sp2 which will save you a lot headaches when you want to reinstall windows. i did that and its really nice!!
