Hey all,
My AMD 2500+ barton, running at stock speeds of 1833MHZ, stays around 47.5*C just sitting there and doing normal task. When i play games( ie. MOH, RTCW) it gets up around 52.5 degrees. All these temps were taken with a Thermaltake CPU probe. My question is is this an OK speed with air cooling(and plenty of it), or am i doing sumthign wrong? Thanx for all the help in advace!!!
[EDIT]
I did apply Artic silver 3 and its using the stock AMD heatsink and fan. The case has the 7 Thermaltake fans. All the wires are ziptied up and ii have rounded cables, so i know its not bad airflow!

AMD Barton 2500+
A7N8X Delux
Corsair Matched 256x2 PC3200 w/ Platinum Heat Spreaders
Saphire Radeon 9600 pro

sounds like a little high for a Barton..
but from 47.5 to 52.5..I would say nth to worry..it's not a big difference..don't worry
mine is 55idle..LOL..and 65 loaded...

Some probes do read a little high. How does it compare with the bios? Numbers like yours are consistant with a room temp of 27c. Bartons normally idle about 20c above ambiant and run up another 5 at full load.

temps are fine as long as its stable
also using 2500 on A7N8X 2.0 , but with slk800 & smart fan II so my temps are lower 44-45c load

if ya want to be sure...put the probe in rapidly boiling water and see what the reading is should be 98-100c...use that as a GENERAL referance to how well the probe is callibrated.

There is no smell better than fried silicon

I suggest that those CPU temperatures should be deemed as a reference, but not as all of the critereon. If your system won't get crashed or a blue screen, it will be ok for you!
