Barton 2500+, too hot?

I've become rather concerned as of late about the amount of heat on my CPU. After reading the boards here, I've started to think that my average (web-browsing) CPU temp of 50C is a little high. This is my first built PC so I really want to make sure I don't fry any components. I'm running:
2500XP Barton @1830mhz, stock heatsink, arctic silver 3
ATI all-in-wonder 9700pro
WD 80G HD
5 generic fans - 2 rear, 1 top, 1 side, 1 front
superflower 420W PS

Now, this is a little hot for my CPU to be running at, isn't it? I just can't figure out what may be the cause. I have made sure to keep all the wires in the case tucked away for good airflow. I've noticed that my vid card gets really hot... it's almost always too hot to even touch, which seems unusual to me but I've been told it is nothing to worry about. Any ideas? If I've installed the heatsink improperly and I need to re-apply it, how do I make sure it's clean before I put more arctic silver on it? Thanks for any advice!

How are you measuring your temperature?

That is actually another thing I was wondering... I mainly use SiSoft Sandra, which right now gives me a temp of 30C. If I use the diagnostic software included with my mobo (gigabyte easytune) it reads the CPU temp at 50C right now. And if I go by the temperature probe I have installed against the side of my CPU die, my temp right now is 42.8C. Which one should I go by?

Download a program called MBM5, it'll give you a fairly accurate temperature.

LOL, well i guess they're useful for us enthusiasts, most newbies never checks the temperature anyways, primarily because they never figured out how.

hahaha, needed a good laugh once in a while.

Ive been around for a while. All you do is run your mouth. You dont really help people. You are where your at because you just post alot.Anyone can do that.Although you do have a good bit every now and then. You really should be in a chat room.I post or reply on one's that I might help. Not to just say " HaHaHa" .I just use Toms for info.I dont live here as some of you seem to do.As far as posting your PC? So what.Who cares.Someone will always have a faster one than you.

Umm, if you got something against me, then so be it. Are you jealous because i've been here shorter and have a higher ranking than you? As far as posts i don't really care, reason why i wrote that p4 overclocking guide is because i don't have to write the same thing over and over and over.

HE SAID A JOKE, and it was kinda funny, so what's wrong with a little laugh once in a while, just to let the guy know it wasn't bad. I come here because i'm bored, school's really easy.

I posted my specs, so what?! a lot of people does. So you don't have to repeat it all the time. WHO SAID I HAVE THE FASTEST PC? I just said i got it for fairly cheap and can compare with systems which costed 2x the amount i spent on mine.

Here's what i think about you, you're just some little 5 year old whiny little girl who's extremely jealous.

I don't want to start a fight here because there's simply no point, you expressed yourself freely, so i'll do the same. Case closed. And if you're looking for fights, you could always go to CPU section and start a AMD vs Intel fight, or Graphics card section and start a ATI vs Nvidia flamewar. This is simply not the place for that.

Where is Mask? haven't seen him for months, and Svol haven't seen him for years.

i agree with you to some extent, but you have to remember these are the overclocking forums, they are not too serious...
