I've become rather concerned as of late about the amount of heat on my CPU. After reading the boards here, I've started to think that my average (web-browsing) CPU temp of 50C is a little high. This is my first built PC so I really want to make sure I don't fry any components. I'm running:
2500XP Barton @1830mhz, stock heatsink, arctic silver 3
ATI all-in-wonder 9700pro
WD 80G HD
5 generic fans - 2 rear, 1 top, 1 side, 1 front
superflower 420W PS
Now, this is a little hot for my CPU to be running at, isn't it? I just can't figure out what may be the cause. I have made sure to keep all the wires in the case tucked away for good airflow. I've noticed that my vid card gets really hot... it's almost always too hot to even touch, which seems unusual to me but I've been told it is nothing to worry about. Any ideas? If I've installed the heatsink improperly and I need to re-apply it, how do I make sure it's clean before I put more arctic silver on it? Thanks for any advice!
