Hi.

I am playing battlefield 1 with a MSI gtx 970 Gaming 4gb and a i5 4690k

I get some huge differences in Fps. It can go from 80 to 30 in seconds.

I am playing on ULTRA but i have turn certain things off you on low, like:
Post process quality LOW
Ambient Occulation OFF
Antialiasing OFF

So today i clean out all my old drivers and installed the new one released 28 oct.
This didnt help much. I still get huge drops in FPS.

What can i do?

Turning my settings down does not help. Playing on high might even be worse.
Putting some things on low might help a little, but its hard to tell with all the drops happening anyway.

Can someone please help me with this?

Cheers!

Solution
High clocked i5 needed. After more testing id say 4.3/4.4 on a 6600k required for smooth mp. Sits around 90%.

You'll need 4.5+ with has well and upwards of 4.7 with ivy sandy based on scaling estimates.

GPU is running fine on 55-59C and the CPU gets to around 60C average on every core.

CPU usage was 100% all the way, but my GPU was between 45% to 60% changing all the time, and it didnt look like it had any relation with the FPS.

But it allready uses 100% of my CPU. My GPU on the other hand seems to by using only 60%.

It's in the advanced video settings menu in the game (if you're running Windows 10). Worth a shot switching to see if it improves at all.

BF1 is showing significant bottlenecks in multiplayer with i5's, your CPU is stuck at 100% and can't keep up with your gpu hence why you see low gpu usage. Although this is being looked into I'm not that hopeful there is a fix otherwise they would have fixed it before launch, its clear there is,good reason why the recommended CPU is a modern i7

Haswell i5 stock clocks will give you frame drops and 100% usage.
Stock 6600k - I see plenty of sub 60 drops, cpu maxed etc

6600k 4.4 - all problems gone, even on 64 player maps. CPU around 90-95%

You need the headroom from 100% usage which only a well clocked newer i5 or i7 will give. I7 of course ideal, but I find it 100% playable on my i5, pegged at 70fps.

Hey, my temporary solution was to put the scaling up to 195% and somehow my cpu usage is lower 60-80% and my gpu usage is 100% all the time, i have an i5-4460 and an r9 390. i dont have huge fps drops since i changed it , but i have lower fps as it is expected but more constant with this i have 45-60 fps (and when its 60 it feels like 60 fps, not like when i was on 100% scale with 80fps it still felt laggy for me) but then my gpu mem usage is 4800 so i dont know how a gtx970 can handle this. I know it makes no sense but it works for me until Dice fix something
