Hello, I have a bad case of rubber banding in the mulitplayer of Battlefield 3 and tried numerous so-called fixes.

My PC consists of the P8 B75-MLX motherboard with a i5 3570k processor and the Geforce 560 SU.

I also have bad rubber banding on Battlefield Bad Company 2 which I didn't have on my old PC.

The specs of my old PC are: The P5Q Motherboard with a Intell Core 2 Duo Processor E8400 and the Geforce 9800 GTX+.

Can anybody tell me what might be the cause of this? :wahoo: Thanks in advance.

Rubber banding has little to do with your PC specs, it's caused by a bad internet connection. Try joining servers in your region that you have a low ping on (under 100 would be best). If that doesn't work, you may need to contact your ISP and either get a better internet plan or go through some trouble-shooting steps. If you have a wireless connection that could be the issue or maybe your modem is dying.

I don't think it's my connection because I have a solid 15-25 ping on the servers I visit and I still have this issue.

I also don't have wireless internet so that's not it as well.

My down is 30 max and my up is 3 max, I am getting fiber optics shortly so maybe that will fix things but in the meantime I am stuck with rubber banding.

Open up Nvidia Control Panel (Download it if you do not have it already).
Then go to Manage 3D Settigns, and make sure Battlefield 3 exe is added to the list.
Change Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames to "1".

I had same issue with my GTX 550 Ti, and this fixed things I think.

Thanks,
Rick

what does ping test tell you?

my ping was 41 in game, but ping test revealed a lot of jitter on the line that was not normal for me.

Pingtest.net gives me a 35 ping rate with 29 ms jitter.

Overal a B.

I'm not sure but I think it's the games fault. Checking google and youtube shows multiple people having rubber banding mostly after a major update and/or DLC.

I tried this, I still have rubber banding. Thanks though.

turn up net smoothing to 50%. there is little you can do about rubber banding other than changing servers. currently multiplay servers suffer the worst rubber banding because there over subscribed.
rubber banding is cause by packet loss and lag. the lag can be cause by other players on the server with higher than 200 ping or ping that is bouncing.
if you have a 64 slot server with each slot having a max reserved bandwidth of 150 ping any 1 with over 150 ping will eatinto another players ping allocation. 1s the 64 player limit has been reached then the server starts rubbber banding as it has to dump packets to keep the ping in check. you may only have 48 players on the server but if half are over 200 ping then your gonna have the equivalent delays of 70 players on a 64 player server. now some server hosts dont work it this way. some will give as much bandwidth as needed to ensure you games are rubber banding free.
so yeah all you can do is change your server host or play on a different brand of server.
