Hey folks,

I’m building a high-performance workstation mainly for motion design, VFX, and GPU rendering using After Effects, Cinema 4D, and Octane Render. I’d love some feedback or potential concerns about compatibility, airflow, bottlenecks, or better alternatives.

Approximate Purchase Date:
As soon as possible (ideally within the next couple of weeks)

Budget Range:
$2000 up to $3000

System Usage from Most to Least Important:
Motion Design / 2D & 3D Animation (After Effects, Cinema 4D)
  1. GPU Rendering (Octane Render)
  2. Video Editing / VFX / Compositing
  3. General Productivity
Are you buying a monitor?
No

Parts to Upgrade / Buy:

Already Owned Parts:
GPU:
2x MSI RTX 3090 Ventus 3X 24G OC

Do you need to buy OS?
No (I already have a valid Windows license)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
No specific preference – just looking for the most compatible and stable setup

Location:
Casablanca, Morocco (will import parts if needed)

Parts Preferences:
AMD for CPU (targeting 9950X3D specifically)
  • ASUS motherboard (due to features and reliability)
  • Open to suggestions for RAM, cooling, and case as long as they ensure full compatibility and cooling for the dual GPUs.

Overclocking:
Not important

Multiple GPUs:
Yes – already have dual MSI RTX 3090s Ventus for GPU rendering with Octane

Your Monitor Resolution:
Main monitor: 1920x1080

Additional Comments:
  • Primary concern is airflow and space between GPUs in the selected cases.
  • I want to ensure the motherboard can run both 3090s at optimal performance without major lane-sharing or throttling issues.
  • The PC will be used daily for professional work – performance, stability, and cooling are more important than aesthetics.
  • Would love your thoughts on whether this config is ideal for my workflow or if there are more efficient alternatives.

Why Are You Upgrading:
My current system (Dell Precision T7610 an old Xeon-based build) can't keep up with modern workloads. I need a future-proof, reliable setup for demanding 3D, compositing, and rendering tasks.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You're advised to stylize your thread with info asked of in this thread;
so users can make worthwhile suggestions/tweaks towards your build.

RAM: 128GB (4x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30 (G.Skill Trident Z5 or Corsair Dominator Platinum)
Got a link to these? You should be looking at ram that's got AMD's E.X.P.O advertised on it to ensure you don't have instability issues.

On paper, the rest of your build looks good to go. I would pick the Fractal case. I would add a HDD to save all of your finished content/productions.

Moved thread from Components section to Systems section.
