is this normal? i run the game on ultra setting and the FPS stays around 60.. i have tried lowering some of the graphics like lighting etc.. but it has no effect on the GPU load.. the temperature is always at 80 degrees no matter what. i have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2gt with a CPU of Intel i7-4770 @3.4GHZ 3.4GHZ. thanks

Solution
you are rendering 60 frames per second on ultra this is perfectly normal.you can try this to lower your gpu usage.
go to the nvidia control panel and under manadge 3d you will see adaptive vsynk at the botom of the page select half refresh rate if you have a 60 hz monitor it will lock your frame rate at 30 fps and it will lower your gpu usage.
you need to restart game for it to take changes.after you did this "experiment" go and change the value if you want more fps.it is normal to have these temps with a refrence gtx 770.what gpu do you exactly have?

hi there, thanks for your quick response.

my case cooling is excellent and stays cold even during gameplay, the cooling for my graphics card is one built in fan. and is always on automatic and wont let me change it. it seem to be automatically setting the temperature to sit at 80C

So the GPU load being stuck at 99 is ok and nothing to worry about as long as the temp stays at 80 on the card? i just think that as a GTX 770 2 Gb, it should be a very good card and handle this sort of gaming well? i get no lag and no movement problems in game. But i just think there must be something wrong because the load is just so high.

you mean stuck on 99 while loaded or unloaded?

If loaded not a thing to be concerned with.
You could try to improve your case's airflow. So heat is dissipated more quickly from around GPU card. I'v seen temps drop considerably where airflow has not been the best.

well.. it seems pretty random. while in game campaign it can be stuck at 99 and its the same while loading also. But i can drop to as low as 74 while playing. but it only goes there for a few seconds and then it can go back to 99 for a period of time. Does the GPU load being so high damage the GPU? or is it just fine? Can i keep the setting on ultra?

ok thanks. it just seems strange also that the fan automatically starts to go fast only when it reaches the 80C and keeps it at 80C with throttling up to reduce it further. this normal also?

Thank you, ill go give this a try.

Yes.. it has improved it.. the Usage has gone down to about 52.. but as you said.. it has reduced my fps to 30 and has made the picture a little slower.

you will need to specify on what aplication the settings you want to aply to in program settings you will need to find battlefield 4 64 bit.if it is not there you will need to add it.
if you change global settings every game and program will run wih adaptive vsync.

thank you very much... i will try using the adaptive setting and maybe reduce the FPS to about 50 and see if its better...

thanks for all your help guys 😀

Again, i wouldn't be concerned one iota. What your describing is normal not just nvidia cards. My 280x's do exactly the same thing dependent on scaling of course. They ramp up and down constantly and when in non-cfx sit in the high 90's for extended periods of time. BF4 is a demanding title and you really need to be concerned about your lowest FPS, because that will be the difference between a good and a great gaming experience.I wouldn't touch a thing in that respect.
