battlefield 4 PC for under $1800 USD

Hello all, i'm looking to build a PC for battlefield 4, possibly other games, but this is my primary PC game i play.

I'm looking to spend $1800 USD in total, i've never built a pc, but have been an active gamer for a while, mostly putting up with what my off the shelf PC can handle, which being 4 years old now is struggling, and would like that to cover a decent mouse and monitor as well if possible, i'm not doing any video editing, or any other activities with my PC (i have my current desktop for all other activities).

i'm looking for a good frame rate, preferably around 50-60 reliably.

what sort of setup should i be looking at?

Something like the following would give you more than just 60fps in bf4. Although with V-sync(which i prefer) it should hold a stable 60fps easily. You should/would be able to run just about every game on max settings 1080p etc.
Maybe you should look for the Case, mouse and keyboard yourself as that usually comes down to user preference.

I didn't add a mouse and keyboard because that is strictly a personal choice, personally I hate wired keyboard and mouse. I guess that means I am not an enthusiast gamer.

The case which I picked for you is also a personal choice but you can choose something you like better and also a bit cheaper.

You can also downgrade the GTX780 to a 770 and still hold a full 60 fps on high instead of ultra/very high.

thank you both for your recommendations, i notice that each setup is widely different, with spent going for more RAM, a higher end motherboard, but with the intel I5 rather then an i7, it's interesting how such vastly different setup's can deliver similar performance.

I wanted the I7 as well, but opted for the other items I chose such as a larger ssd and a motherboard with better overclocking options

8GB of ram is enough, I just hate seeing a build of this size with just 8GB but I would agree with 8GB being plenty.

The larger ssd is a must unless you are a guy who plays only 2 or 3 games at at a time.
Windows plus a few apps and 2-3 games you are running out of space because you always want around 15-20% of the ssd to be free to avoid performance issues. This caused me a bit of grief with my 128GB SSD.

If you were to drop to 8GB of RAM and get a slightly cheaper case you could afford the i7.

I think we both want to see you with a 780 though.

thanks spentshells, that is much appreciated, just out of interest, would i be able to go with a single 8gb of RAM to start off with, and upgrade later?

and i think i might go with a smaller HDD, as i've only got a 1TB at the moment, and havn't struggled with space, and my current desktop will be used for movies ect.

I have changed it to a 8 GB set you need to have two modules of ram for dual channel mode (avoid performance loss)

Get rid of my HDD and use the one you already have!
