hey i just recently got my new build put together and i first turned it on and there was a long beeping sound..is it a problem with ram placement? or what? anyhelp would be good thanks

Some mobo's don't like the SPD timings that come preprogramed on Ram, I know mine didn't. It would be helpful if you could add your spec's to your sig so we can help you better. Do you know what you Ram timings are? Also your mobo manual should have a beep code book that will tell you what the beeps mean.

Most of the time its just that most Ram these days use anywhere from 1.8-2.4 volts, thats what I'm guessing it is.

Yeah my specs are..

EVGA nForce 590 SLI

AMD Athlon X2 64 Dual Core 2.8Ghz

Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz E.P.P. Memory (2 x 1024)

EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS Superclocked 320MB GDDR3

x2 Seagate / Barracuda 7200RPM / 500GB

ThermalTake PurePower 600W

Yes. If you can boot up and run on 1GB in single channel mode you can try 2GB dual channel (in most motherboards thats one stick in each of the same colored slots.
If 1GB boots but 2GB dual channel does not - try 2GB in single channel mode. 1 stick side by side in the different colored slots.

Just a though... I've got a ASUS mobo. it gives me a long moris code beep is the case has been "shifted" things have moved etc.

Also, it may be the cpu contact to coolant. I hate that beep....hate it.

These are just guesses, your the eyes of the operation.

Good luck.

so the whole problem with the beeping was that i didnt plug the extra power supply in for my graphics card...the mobo didnt supply enough power alone for the board..

Sounds like you find the problem then, thats great!
